New Lambton Heights Infants School

Term 2 Week 10 2024 Newsletter

We at New Lambton Heights Infants School acknowledge that we learn and play on the traditional country of the Awabakal people. We pay respects to Elders past, present and emerging, valuing their knowledge and seeking continued respectful relationships.

We recognise, respect and appreciate the traditional custodians cultural heritage, beliefs, relationships, and continued connection with the land, the skies and the waterways. This continent was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Halfway there ..

Thank you to all our parents, carers, staff and students for your hard work and support in getting through Semester 1. I am very proud of the achievements of students K-2. We are looking forward to an even stronger Semester 2.

Thank you to our P&C for their organisation of some really lovely community events this year. We met on Wednesday night and we have lots of great things planned for Semester 2, including a colour run for the kids and a trivia night for the grown ups!

My P&C principal report is attached and outlines a summary of where we are up to with our school excellence cycle and general organisation. Please take a moment to read through so you can stay up to date with what is happening in the school and upcoming events.

We have many things happening next term, starting with our NAIDOC celebration day on Friday 26 July. Please look for all events on your calendar in the Sentral Parent Portal. School photos will be in Week 4, so you may want to check Winter uniform pieces are ready. All students are required to wear the WINTER uniform ie Navy pants and long sleeve blue shirt or navy skorts, stockings and long sleeve blue shirt.  The uniform shop has second hand pieces for sale. Please be sure to check and don't leave it to the last minute to be ordering anything that you need.

I wish you all a very safe and happy holidays. From speaking to many families, it seems like many of you are just looking forward to a break in routine and chilling out at home. That's what this principal will be doing!

SIGNING IN WHEN VOLUNTEERING - SOME CHANGES

All visitors are required to sign in using the iPad at the office. This includes classroom helpers, allied health workers, canteen helpers, uniform shop volunteers, P&C event helpers, contractors etc. It is important that we know who is on our school site in the event of an emergency.

We are now asking that after you sign in, that you see Brooke or Cathy at the office to receive a badge for you to wear while you are in the school. That way teachers will know that you have signed in. Please return the badge  when you sign out.

All volunteers must have completed a volunteers declaration at least one day before volunteering. This gives the office the time to complete the process that is mandatory in all Department of Education Schools. Once you have completed a declaration, you will not need to complete another.

Brooke is just getting to know our community, so please do not be taken back if she asks to see ID when you are coming in to volunteer. It is all part of what we are required to do for the safety of your children.

I thank you all for your understanding and co-operation.
