St Matthew's Primary School is committed to creating an environment where the safety, wellbeing

and participation of all children within our care is paramount.

Acting Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have been very fortunate to have had some lovely sunny weather lately, however, the air is getting much cooler. The children are now all expected to be in their winter uniform. The winter uniform includes the school beanie. If your child would like to wear a beanie they will need to wear the school beanie. If your child would like to wear a jacket or coat when they are outside, they can either wear the school jacket that can be purchased from the uniform shop or any other dark coloured jacket.

Thankyou for your support with ensuring that your child/ren are in the correct uniform.

Watches

We have had a few students wearing electronic watch devices to school. These devices need to be for telling the time only. Please do not send your child to school with a smart watch or similiar that has the ability to play games or send and receive messages.

Safety along our fenceline

The students have been reminded that they are not to speak to anybody through our fences. Can I please ask parents to not speak to the children through the fence as well? If you have a message for your child/children you must contact the office and we will get the message to them.

Drop off and pick up

When dropping off or picking up your children could I remind parents of the following:

  • Children should not be getting out of the car on the driver's side of the vehicle. This places the child on the road and there are many cars passing.
  • Please be sure to park in the correct spots and if picking up at the William St gate at the Drop Off point, please stay in your car while you wait for your child/children to come out. This is a 2 minute zone for pick ups only.
  • Please do not park in or across residents' driveways.
  • Please do not do U turns near the crossing in William St. As this is quite a busy road, U turns near the crossing create traffic congestion and can be dangerous.

End of Term 2

Term 2 will finish on Friday 23rd June at 1.00pm. Please note the change to the finish time.

Illnesses

As we start to get into the colder weather, many people will develop colds or COVID symptoms. If your child is unwell please keep them home and notify the school of their absence. You can call the school or complete the absence form on Audiri (Skoolbag). If we do not hear from you Almoza will call you to find out why your child is away.

    JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

    CROSS COUNTRY EVENT

On the 18th of May St Matthew's Students in year levels 3-6 participated in the annual Glenroy District Cross Country that was held at Boeing Reserve, Strathmore.

This annual competition is when we compete against other schools in the district area in long distance running, with over 200+ students competing on the day. The competition is a long distance race for children aged 9/10, 11 and 12/13. The 9/10 students ran a total of 2km (2000m or 2 laps) and the 11-12/13 year olds ran a total of 3km (3000m or 3 laps).

The St Matthew's students took this head on with great spirit and enthusiasm with some students polling in the top 20 and top 10 of their division.

A big shoutout to our Grade 6 student, Sebastian, who you can see in the picture,  finished 1st in his 12/13 year old race, which was a mighty effort for all to see against a total of 50 boys.
