Next Week at St Timothy's (Year P-6)

It’s time for St Timothy’s Junior Superheroes to bond with their Senior Sidekicks!

MiniBOSS ‘Super Buddies’ is a unique buddy program that centres on building meaningful relationships between junior superheroes and their older buddies (senior sidekicks). Packed with fun ways to communicate, dynamic duo challenges, and a chance to strut their superhero stuff, St Timothy’s students will have a blast throughout this special connection experience.

MORNING SESSIONS

(SEPARATE PROGRAMS FOR JUNIOR AND SENIOR STUDENTS)...

Students launch into the world of superheroes! For the juniors, it's time to take a trip to Superhero HQ, test out some powerful poses, and create a special superhero keepsake to show their Senior Sidekicks. For the seniors, creating clever ways to show hero behaviour while vanquishing villain temptations, all while becoming powerful role

models for their buddies, is the name of the game!

AFTERNOON SESSION (JUNIOR AND SENIOR STUDENTS COMBINED)...

Buddies, it's time to unite! Sidekicks work closely with their Superheroes to strengthen their bond through the creation of a buddy book, a secret handshake and a superhero oath!

Super Buddies is run across a full day in two parts:

MORNING SESSIONS: JUNIOR SESSION (little buddies) and separate SENIOR

SESSION (big buddies)

AFTERNOON SESSION: JUNIOR & SENIOR SESSION combined! (everyone comes together)

100 Days of Prep

Chaotic but Fun!

Thank you to Trish for a chaotic but fun day for our Prep children. All your extra effort is appreciated!

Celebrating 100 days!

Emmaus- Little Women Production

We were so fortunate this week for our Year 3/4 class to be able to attend the production of Little Women. It was absolutely AMAZING. The children returned very enthusiastic about the performance.

An added benefit was to see 6 of our past St Timothy's students on stage. Five can be seen in the cast here and one working behind the scenes. WOW! How fantastic is that!  Not a bad representation from a small school.

Archbishop's Visit

Archbishop Peter Comensoli will be visiting St Timothy’s and St Lukes on Friday 25th August. Unfortunately this clashes with a School Closure Day that was unable to be changed due to the very busy term and long term booking.

We are hoping however to have some children who may be able to attend to represent our school community between 11:30am to 12pm for a play together outside, and an opportunity to meet/ talk to the Archbishop and share stories of reasons why they love their school. They could share their stories of happy experiences, their learning, their friends and their teachers and the importance for them attending a local catholic school like St Timothy’s.

We realise parents may not be able to get their child to school for this short amount of time due to work commitments but thought perhaps they might be able to help each other out so we can have children from across the grades.

A morning tea would be provided for the children and an opportunity to play together. It would be wonderful if a few parents could stay and be with those who attend.

The Archbishop has a very busy schedule on that Friday but will meet with Fr Gerard and leadership teams from both schools then a brief tour of the school and an opportunity to meet the staff and children.

A form has been sent to complete and return whether your child can attend on the day.

Chinese Students

Over the next 4-6 weeks we welcome some International students who are visiting us at St Timothy's for an Australian School Learning Experience. We welcome to St Timothy's Rex, Charles, Jim, Toby, Justin and Yichen

The twin parables of today’s gospel – the treasure in the field and the pearl of great value – reveal a paradoxical truth about the kingdom of Heaven. Throughout the gospels, Jesus presents the kingdom as ‘now but not yet’; as ‘present but future’. This paradox is captured in these twin parables. In both cases, the kingdom is likened to something of great value that is discovered but cannot be immediately grasped. In both parables, the finder must go away and sell everything so that they can eventually come to possess the treasure they have discovered.By comparing this experience with the kingdom of Heaven, Jesus suggests that most of us can only ever catch glimpses of what it means to live in the kingdom. For most of us, only in the future reality of heaven will we ever fully come to understand the kingdom. However, those glimpses that we catch – those moments of inspiration and connection with God and with one another – are like the treasures of the parables. They are enough to inspire us to do what it takes to make sure that we will one day enter into that kingdom reality. The third parable of this gospel passage reveals yet another truth about the kingdom. The dragnet thrown into the sea is like the message of Jesus – it is flung far and wide and does not discriminate about where it falls or on whom it falls. This parable rounds out the chapter that began with the parable of the sower and the image of casting the net is a neat parallel to the indiscriminate casting of seed. It is not up to the one who casts the net, the seed or the Word. Rather it is up to each individual to determine how they will respond to receiving the Word.

Archbishop's Visit

St Timothy's  ARCHBISHOP’S VISITATON will occur on the weekend of August 25, 26 & 27 this year. He is coming to meet us, yes YOU, members of both Primary School Communities and I. Please put this event in your diary as there will be a number of opportunities across the weekend for him to meet all Parishioners. The Parish Visitation is a wonderful opportunity for the Archbishop to meet with, and celebrate with, your community. The following key areas encapsulate what you may like to share:

·        TELL ME YOUR STORY: Culture | Life | History

·        GIVE ME AN ACCOUNT OF WHAT IS HAPPENING: Missionary | Sacramental | Charitable | Formation | Spiritual

·        HOW ARE YOU STRUCTURED and GOING ABOUT THINGS? Who are doing things and what is their involvement?

·        HOW ARE YOU PLANNING and RESOURCING? Now and into the future

·        HOW ARE YOU COMMUNICATING YOUR ENGAGEMENT?

·        WHAT ARE YOUR CHALLENGES?

·        More details to follow …
