Welcome to Term 3:
Welcome to Term 3! I hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable break! We are looking forward to this term, with many wonderful events on the calendar including Book Week Parade, Grandparents Day and Public Education Week!
Student Success:
A massive congratulations to Liam who recently competed at the National Swimming Championships! He had a fantastic carnival winning a gold medal in the 4 x 50m freestyle relay, gold in the 4 x 50m medley relay, silver in the 200m freestyle, silver in the 50m backstroke, bronze in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the 100m backstroke! Wow! I think we have a future Olympian in our midst! Congratulations to our netball knockout team who competed against Floraville last week. The team lost in an exciting game that was neck and neck until the last quarter. Well done to all team members. Kinder celebrated 100 days of Kindergarten last week. It certainly seemed like Kinder had aged the students quickly, with our Kinder students looking like they had been at school for 100 years!
NAIDOC Week:
This week we are celebrating NAIDOC Week, beginning with our assembly today. Students will be engaged in learning about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture each day this week with a gallery walk being held on Friday for students to showcase their work for others. We also had students, staff and parents attend the Warners Bay High School NAIDOC assembly last Friday to celebrate with our high school counterparts.
Welcome:
This term we welcome Ms Svigilj, an intern from University of Newcastle who will be working with Ms Morton and 1M for the ten weeks.
Student Led Conferences: Our students led conferences start today and run for the week. If you have not yet booked an interview with your child’s teacher, please do so at schoolinterviews.com.au
School Development Day:
A reminder that students do not attend school next Monday as staff will be engaged in professional learning on our School Development Day which was moved from last Monday.
SPINS:
This term, we are pleased to be involved in the Speech Pathologists in Schools program run by the University of Newcastle. This program provides screening and speech therapy for our students from a qualified speech pathologist and students from the university. The program will initially begin with students in Year 2.
WBHS EEE information session:
This Wednesday, Warners Bay High will be running an information session about their EEE (high potential and gifted class) program for students entering Year 7 in 2025. The session will begin at 6:00pm in their multipurpose centre.
Check In:
This week primary students will begin completing the Department’s Check In Assessments. These assessments will be conducted online and will provide valuable information for the school in how students are progressing with their learning. Year 3 will begin with their assessments on Thursday.
Sami Bayly visit:
We are excited for Sami Bayly, author, to visit this week! If you would like your child to attend, payments will be accepted until Wednesday.
K and SHINE excursion:
Next Thursday, our Kindergarten and some SHINE students will be attending the Awabakal Environmental Education Centre for their excursion. We are sure they will have a great time. Details have been sent home on Audiri.
Zone Athletics:
Good luck to our zone athletics competitors who will be competing on Wednesday 8th August! We are sure they will do well.
Good luck aerobics teams:
Good luck to our aerobics teams who will be competing at the National Championships on Sunday 11th August! They have trained hard to get there and we wish them all the best! A big thank you to Miss Em for coaching the team, Ms Morton and Miss Davis for managing the teams and to all of the parents for their commitment to the teams! Go WBPS!
