May 2024, Term 2 Week 2

A Message from the Principal

Welcome Back to Term 2

Welcome back for Term 2. We have had a busy start to the term with Do It For Dolly Day and Walk Safely to School Day. These two days are very important for all school communities and it was great to see our school support these days.

Congratulations to our four students, Charlotte, April, Aaliyah and Tyler who made Regional Soccer Trials after competing in Zone this week.

Next week we have some of our S2 and S3 girls participating in Women's In Football Week Gala Day at Speers Point. Our students have been very proactive in getting involved in a variety of extra curricular activities. Thank you to all the staff working on the organisation of these.

Our school has been chosen for the EduChat Trial, our S3 teachers are excited for this new initiative. It will be great to see the results after our S3 students have used the program .

On Monday we are excited for the Zanna and the Lost Code Performance in our hall by Brainstorm Productions.

A reminder that we also have our S3 Camp and K-2 Zoo excursion.

Regards,Mr Hopson (Relieving Principal, Plattsburg Public School)

Do it For Dolly Day

Well done to Matilda of Year 6 who helped co ordinate and organise the day. She worked closely with Mr Hopson and made it a very successful day.

What's Happening

Road Safety

During this week's assembly Miss Rebecca discussed road safety and how to  safely use our school exits correctly.

Sentral Parents Portal

Thank you Plattsy parents/carers for your response to the new functions in the Sentral for Parent platform. We have received permissions and payments instantly and appreciate your patience with the initial teething problems. What a time saver/paper saver!

If you have any trouble accessing the portal, please do not hesitate to contact us at the office, through our Facbook Page messenger or email. If you do not wish to download the app, Sentral permission and payments will send an email to you with a link that will enable you answer permissions and payments. We still use for Canteen/Uniform orders and Audiri (formally Skoolbag) for urgent alerts.

Year 5 in 2025 Opportunity Classes

Opportunity classes are just one of the ways that we support our high potential and gifted students. The classes are offered in Years 5 and 6, with parents/carers applying when their child is in Year 4.

Opportunity classes provide an environment where students can learn and make friends with classmates of similar abilities. This can benefit students’ academic progress and wellbeing. Opportunity classes are not zoned.

Opportunity Class Placement Test

Applications for opportunity class placement are considered on the results of the Opportunity Class Placement Test. Students who wish to be considered for placement are required to sit the Opportunity Class Placement Test on Thursday 1 August 2024.

How to apply

·            Parents/carers apply online between Thursday 4 April and Monday 20 May 2024 at:

·            You must use your own email address and not one belonging to your child.

·            You must submit only one application for each child.

·            Late applications are not usually accepted.

If you do not have internet access you can apply at a public library or at your child’s school. If you have a disability that prevents you from using a computer, you can contact the Selective Education Unit for assistance after 4 April 2024.

If you intend to apply for opportunity class placement for your child, please return the form linked below and return to the school.

Please note, the tear-off slip below is NOT an application, it is advice to the school that you intend to apply. The school CAN NOT apply on your behalf.
