What's happening this week

National Reconciliation Week

At Lambton PS will be recognising National Reconciliation Week (NRW) next week and acknowledging the importance of National Sorry Day . NRW is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

The National Reconciliation Week theme for 2024, Now More Than Ever, is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue.

Star Struck Rehearsal

Our Star Struck students will participate in their Combined Movement Rehearsal at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre this Tuesday.  Parents are reminded students are to be transported to the venue and meet Ms Fletcher outside the main entrance at 9:30 am. It's National Volunteer Week (20 - 26 May)

To celebrate, we want to highlight the amazing contribution and commitment  of our P&C volunteers . Your dedication, time and passion make a huge difference and we appreciate you all very much.

The 2024 theme 'Something for Everyone' is the chance to explore the rich diversity of opportunities available at LPS.  Volunteering connects us all and has a positive impact on the wellbeing of the students, the school community and the volunteers, providing a sense of achievement and purpose.

A big thank you to our amazing voluinteers who, without them, we would have no Canteen, Breakfast Club, stalls or school disco's.

National Simultaneous Storytime

Last Wednesday, our whole school participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, the annual event held by ALIA.

We shared the Australian book Bower Bird Blues simultaneously with over 2,000 children in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes and bookshops across Australia and New Zealand. We also enjoyed a range of supporting educational activities to promote the value of reading, literacy and connection.

Bowerbird Blues was written and illustrated by Aura Parker It is a lyrical story that follows the journey of a bowerbird on his quest for all things blue, all the while feeling that something is missing in his life.

Thank you to Mr Semmens to read the book whilst our library monitors used drama to act out the story for our students to enjoy.

Congratuilations to Jedd G from 1/2B  who won the scavenger hunt raffle for the copy of Bowerbird Blues.
