Beerwah State School

Newsletter 3 September 2026

Principal's Report

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to our Newsletter for Week 8. Excitement is building here at Beerwah State School as our biannual Arts Week approaches. Our student’s visual art masterpieces will be exhibited in the Hall next week, on Thursday afternoon, 10th September. More information regarding this afternoon is in my article below.

One of the most exciting curriculum events leading up to the Arts week is the Raw Art Workshops for all students run by Raw Art, Brisbane. These workshops are designed to immerse students in visual art, experimenting with various media under the instruction of professional artists. These workshops have already taken place in classrooms and our students certainly have created some wonderful pieces to showcase at our Arts Week exhibition.

Behaviour Focus for Week 9 & 10

Be an active participant

ü by working with others

ü doing my work to the best of my ability

ü by following the class expectations (independent work vs group work)

ü showing respect to others

Please talk to your child about our behaviour focus for this fortnight and discuss ways in which they can enact the desired behaviours listed. Having this message reinforced at home will help students realise that we are all working together to ensure they are being the very best they can be.

Student Free Day

This Friday 4th September is a student free day. The School will be closed as we chose to attend an extra student free day at the beginning of the year in lieu of Friday. Jabiru will also be closed for the day.

Teacher Aide Appreciation Week

This week was National Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. I would like to thank all our Teacher Aides for their hard work and dedication to our students and school. We all appreciate you! You really make a difference to our students’ learning and wellbeing.

Arts Showcase

Our Arts Show will be held on Thursday 10 September from 3 – 6pm where our students’ visual art masterpieces will be exhibited in the Hall. Our School Choir will be performing on stage at 4:30pm. Parents/carers will also have the opportunity to view the exhibition the following morning on Friday from 7 – 9am.

Regional Track & Field event

Congratulations to Eddie and Ava who competed in the Regional Track & Field event last week. Ava competed in 1500m placing 14th and Eddie competed in Shotput also placing 14th. Well done to both of our champions!

Father Day Stall

Our students had a wonderful time on Thursday at our Fathers’ Day Stall, purchasing presents for their dads/carers. Thank you to our P&C for organising and running the stall.

CIMEP Sunshine Coast Instrumental Music Workshops 2026

Our Instrumental Music students were invited to participate in the CIMEP Instrumental Music Workshops last week. Students had the opportunity to work with other Instrumental Music students across the region and to learn new repertoire under the guidance of expert Instrumental music teachers. Congratulations to our students for being accepted into this program and to Mrs Gallagher for organising.

Have a great weekend!

Student Services

At Beerwah, the Student Services team meets every second week to discuss how best to support our students’ learning and support needs.  Sometimes students’ needs are identified on enrolment or through our moderation process and other times individual student needs are identified by teachers.

Classroom teachers may discuss student needs with parents and carers and if necessary a referral will be made to the Student Services team.  If this is necessary, a green permission form will be sent home, explaining the process and we encourage you to complete the questionnaire on the rear of the form to help us to understand the needs of your student more clearly.

Our team are currently running an intervention program focussing on supporting students requiring additional support in the areas of phonemic awareness and phonics.
