Relieving Principal's Update

Fun Run

Congratulations to the RPS community! What a fantastic event that brought the whole school together. I had a fabulous time meeting many parent volunteers who supported our wonderful P&C during the setting up stage after school. When the event started it was great seeing so many smiles on the faces of our students and parents who were all eager to adorn themselves in various splashes of colour! I do feel though that some students and to an extent some parents ....... were too enthusiastic in colouring some of the teachers and myself in excessive amounts of colour!!!

Well done to the P&C executive for coordinating the Colour Run, I know that there were many of hours of planning and preparation required to organise the coloured dust, course and catering for the night.

Kinder Orientation

Over the past two Wednesday mornings, RPS has welcomed our new 2024 kindergarten students and their parents to our school. It was a great opportunity for our new students to see what 'big school' is like, as they were engaged in some fun learning in K Daisy's room. In the library Mrs Townsend and Mrs Rana, informed our kinder parents about how to best support their children with tips on how to help them get ready for the big step in primary school. Thank you to Mrs Townsend and her team for organising and supporting our new students.

Grandparents' Day

It was so great to see so many grandparents at RPS last Monday. The morning began with an enthusiatic performance from our preschool students, followed by open classrooms and craft activities for our students to complete with their grandparents. Again, community events like this at RPS have really shown me how wonderful RPS really is. Thank you to Mrs Srinivasan and her group of parent helpers for coordinating this fabulous day of activities.

Olympian Visit

Jasmin Locke visited the students in Years 3-6 to talk about her journey to the hopefully representing Australia in sprint kayaking at the upcoming Olympic Games. She discussed with the students the importance of goal setting, determination, persistence and the benefits of being active. It was great to have Jasmine motivate our students and we wish her every success.

Planning for 2024

The leadership team has begun the process of planning for 2024. I kindly ask that all families please return the note that was sent home which requires you to indicate if your children are returning to Rydalmere PS next year. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

Student Wellbeing

Positive Behaviour For Learning

The PBL focus for week 3 was Toilets -  These functional school spaces require respect and care. The focus on toilets during week 3 gently reminded students of basic care of the toilet environment and the resources within these spaces to ensure they are only used for their intended use.

The PBL focus for week 4 is Waste Free Lunch Boxes & Recycling. Waste free lunches not only reduce the environmental impact of schools but also serve as practical lessons for students about the value of reducing, reusing, and recycling. Simple solutions such as re-useable lunch boxes and drink bottles minimise single-use packaging and food waste. Additionally, waste-free lunches encourage students to make healthier food choices. Fruit comes with it's own compostible packaging making them a great choice for healthy minds and bodies and the environment alike.

P&C Report

Thank you to all the families and friends who supported the cookie dough fundraiser. The funds raised helped cover the cost of new soccer goals, which arrived a few weeks ago and are already being enjoyed by the students. We appreciate the volunteers who helped sort and distribute the orders; we couldn't have done this without you.

The Colour Run, held on the 3rd of November, was a great success. We want to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers who helped the event run smoothly and to all the families and friends who generously donated to the online fundraising pages.

A special thank you goes to Mr. Yee and the staff who dedicated their time to ensure the event ran smoothly. The incredible school spirit demonstrated by so many teachers, families, and community members was inspiring. Additionally, we would like to thank Mitsubishi Electric Rydalmere for their generous donation, which went towards covering some of our expenses. If you have any feedback from the Colour Run event or suggestions for next year, please email us. We will soon share details of the amount raised and the items the school will be purchasing for the students.

We are excited to announce that on the last day of term, Friday 15th December, the P&C will be organising a Party Day lunch for all students. More details will follow.

Please note that the next P&C meeting has been rescheduled and will now be held on Monday 4th December at 7pm in the school library. We encourage all parents to attend. To become a financial member of the P&C, please transfer $1 with your full name as the description to our bank account: Rydalmere Public School Parents Account BSB: 062167 ACC: 10133599.

Please be aware that we have a new email address: rydalmerepnc@gmail.com.au.

Thank you,

Community Hub News

The jacaranda carpet on John Street is a sight to behold each morning. The color run, organized by P and C, added even more excitement to the vibrant spring season. It was wonderful to see so many of you attending the event.

On Grandparents Day, which took place on October 30th, the preschoolers performed special songs honouring their grandparents. It was lovely to see the community understand the significant role grandparents play in shaping a child's confidence and security. The celebration saw up to 50 adults participating with their grandchildren, creating remarkable artwork on tiles and paper planes that soared through the air. Families also had a great time dressing up and posing in the photo booth. The event was filled with cherished memories.

I would like to express our gratitude to Crystal from Hills Community Aid for bringing her coffee van and treating all the participants to a cuppa and delightful morning tea. Additionally, a big thank you to Kerri from Bunnings Rydalmere for providing the tiles for the artwork. Asami, your assistance at the photo booth was invaluable and greatly appreciated.

I want to acknowledge Ramya for involving the English class students as volunteers in various stations, supporting our staff and external providers. Your dedication is commendable. And last but not least, a special thanks to the school staff for their ongoing support, which contributed to the tremendous success of the event.

We would love to hear your feedback about the event. Please use the following link to provide your input.
