Message from the Principal

Welcome to Our Community

Welcome to Term 2. A very warm welcome to all our new students and families who are joining us this term. We are delighted to have you as part of our learning community and look forward to working closely with you to support every child’s success.

Staying Connected

To help us communicate effectively, we kindly remind all parents and caregivers to ensure your contact details are up to date with the school. Accurate phone numbers and email addresses are essential. Please also make sure you are connected to and regularly checking the Audiri App, as this is our primary platform for school communication, reminders, and updates.

Celebrating 50 Years of the IEA

2026 marks a significant milestone as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the International Education Agency (IEA). You may have noticed the new IEA flagpoles at the entrances of both campus driveways, along with our 50th Anniversary banners proudly on display. These recognise five decades of dedication to quality education across all IEA schools and colleges.

Key Events This Term

There are many exciting events planned for Term 2:

  • Sports Carnival – Week 4, a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate teamwork and school spirit.
  • LIS’s Got Talent – Week 7, where our students will showcase their creativity, confidence, and performance skills.

Please refer to the attached Term 2 Parent Calendar for all important dates and events.

IEA Agency Conference and Mid-Year Break

To commemorate the IEA’s 50 years, there will be a whole-agency conference later this term, bringing together teachers from all 18 IEA schools and colleges. As a result, all students will enjoy a four-week mid-year holiday, providing valuable time for rest, family, and reflection.

Attendance Matters

Regular attendance is essential for academic progress and wellbeing. Being at school every day allows students to fully engage in learning and maintain strong routines. Thank you for your continued support in ensuring your child attends school consistently this term.

Staff Welcome

We are pleased to welcome Mr William Wartovo to our school community. Mr Wartovo has joined us this term to support learning in Years 7 and 8, and we are delighted to have him on staff.

Getting Involved Beyond the Classroom

We encourage all students to participate in the wide range of Extra-Curricular Activities (ECAs) available this term. Involvement in ECAs helps students build confidence, develop skills, and strengthen their connection to the school community.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. We look forward to a positive and successful Term 2 for all.

Warm regards,

Success Starts Here!

Deputy Principal's Notices

Welcome back to the start of term 2. It has been wonderful to see our students return to school full of energy, smiles, and enthusiasm for learning. Week One is always a special time as classrooms come back to life and our school community reconnects after the break.

This week has focused on settling in, re-establishing routines, and setting positive expectations for the term ahead. Students have been busy, reconnecting with classmates, and familiarising themselves with new learning spaces and subjects. It’s been encouraging to see such a positive start, with students demonstrating respect, co-operation, and a willingness to try their best.

Teachers have been working closely with students to outline learning goals and classroom expectations, helping everyone understand what success will look like this term. Establishing strong routines early helps create a focused and supportive learning environment where students can thrive.

We encourage families to take time over the coming weeks to talk with children about their learning, daily routines, and goals for the term. Simple conversations and consistent support at home make a powerful difference to student confidence and achievement.

Looking ahead this term, we have some special events in our calendar.

  • We invite parents to our special Mother’s Day Assembly on Friday, week 3. Which will be hosted by our SRC team.
  • Track and Field Carnival will be held in week 4. ELC to Grade 4 will participate on Thursday, while 5 to 12 will take place on Friday. These are great days were students show case their sporting prowess and school-house spirit.
  • Book week celebrations will take place in week 5, show casing the rich love of literature LIS students have.
  • LIS annual 5 and 6 sleepover will also occur in week 5.
  • Finally, we will conclude the term with LIS Got Talent, an event to celebrate the IEAs 50th anniversary of providing quality education in PNG.
  •

We are also excited to offer a wide range of Extra Curriculum Activities this term:

In the high school:

  • Rugby League – Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:15 – 4:30. Games on Saturdays

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are delighted to welcome all our students and staff to the start of Term 2. After a restful break, we look forward to an exciting season of learning, growth, and community building.

As mentioned in our previous messages, this term will be an eight – week term. It is in the best interest that our students are supported to maintain focus in their drive for academic excellence and positive character growth.

To support students during this short term the program for this term has been designed to give students more time to focus on their assessments and studies.

  • We are introducing additional hours of compulsory weekend studies.
  • Close monitoring of student’s diaries to ensure students are up to date with their homework and assessment tasks.
  • Setting clear expectations with given time frame for students to show evidence of academic excellence and positive character growth.

Parent assistance

  • Reinforce the importance of daily review and time management.
  • Read school and boarding updates and discuss them with your child.
  • Support the boarding and school’s expectations on punctuality, dress code and behaviour.
  • Boarding life can be challenging; provide a safe space for your child to express their feelings.
