Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

EDUCATION WEEK 2024 - ‘PROUD TO BELONG’

As we celebrate Public Education Week 2024, we are thrilled to embrace this year’s theme, ‘Proud to Belong’. This theme resonates deeply with us as it highlights the incredible sense of community, dedication, and achievement that defines our school environment. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our school staff, families, and community members who are integral to our vibrant school community.

We warmly invite parents, community leaders, and all members of our school community to join us on Thursday 8 August from 11:30am -1.00pm, in celebrating the excellence and enthusiasm that define our public schools. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to showcase the remarkable talent and accomplishments of our students and share a picnic lunch.

Let’s come together to celebrate and share our pride in the achievements and talent within our school community. We look forward to seeing you there!

Unexplained Absences

Please remember that the NSW Education Act requires that all student absences must be explained within 7 days of the first day of them being away from school. Please contact us promptly whenever your child is absent and let us know the reason for them being away. This allows us to provide the right support and make sure your child's absences are recorded correctly.

In the event your child has repeated or ongoing unexplained absences, we will continue to try to contact you about each absence to provide appropriate support for you and your family.

Education Day

Whiddon Nursing Home Visits

A small self-nominated group of Year 5 and 6 students have been visiting Whiddon Nursing Home on Monday afternoons. Our students have really gravitated towards the residents, playing Bingo and getting to know them. The games have been fun while we make stronger connections. Time each week quickly disappears and we rush back to school before the end of the day. The kids leave buzzing with things they are learning about the residents. The group is looking forward to future visits.

Zone Athletics Recap

Last Friday, 25 WBPS students attended  the Manning Zone Athletics Carnival at Tuncurry. Under cool grey clouds, our students ran, threw, jumped and relayed on the track and field.  The students were: Oscar A, Ari A, Hannah D, Eden D, Luke D, Amarlie D, Lisa D, Mitchell E, Toby E, Carter F, Ava H, Hudson H, Abbie K, Chad K, Archie K, Austin L, Gemma O, SJ O, Reg P, Addison R, Sophie R, Ivy S and Harlan S.

Chad and Harlan are off to Regional Athletics

Congratulations to all our students who did their best in their events. Chad K will progress on to Regional athletics by qualifying for the 800m. Harlan S also proved to be the fastest 8 year old in the Manning Valley as he ran a blistering time down the 100m track. Congratulations to both boys.

Massive thanks to Mrs Jacklin who managed the event perfectly. Year in, year out, she gathers the nominations from the 29 schools in our zone, runs the carnival and then helps run the regional carnival. She is an unsung legend for the Manning Zone PSSA and should nominate to run the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane!

100 Days of School

KO and K/1S have been counting the wonderful school days that we have enjoyed so far in 2024! Reaching 100 days of school was cause for celebration and what a day we had! Everyone was looking a 'little older' and we had so many activities to have fun with. Students made 100 gumballs in the gumball machine, artworks out of the digits in 100, predictions of what we will be eating and playing when we are 100 years old and groups of 100 from many fun objects.

We are looking forward to more than thirteen hundred more fabulous school days together at Wingham Brush over the next six years!

School Contribution Charge

A great public school is made great with both the support provided by the Department of Education and the contributions made by the community. Schools also have the ability to enhance their educational and sporting programs by collecting school contributions from parents. This means funding for those extra resources to support programs to enhance the teaching and learning and ultimately the educational outcomes of our students. We have kept the level of voluntary contributions per year to $40 per student or $50 per family, to a minimum to make this contribution affordable to all.

Payments can be made in cash to the front office or by accessing School Bytes. You will find the contribution charge in your "Statement of Account".

Kindergarten Enrolments 2025

2025 Kindergarten enrolments are now due. If you have a child who will be starting next year, please contact the front office. Online enrolments can be accessed through the school’s webpage or the link below.  https://winghambru-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/enrolment.html

Enrolments and associated documents need to be presented to the office on or before the Orientation Days begin.

Please see our schedule of events for Orientation Days on the flyer below.
