From the Principal

Term 3

This week is the last week of what has been a very busy term. As the weather gets a little warmer, I would like to wish everyone a great term break. Students return to school for Term 4 on Tuesday 14th October.

K-2 Carnival

The K-2 Athletics Carnival was held last Thursday. It was great to see the large number of parents and grandparents that joined us for the day.  I would like to give a big thank you to all of the teachers involved. I especially would like to thank Mrs Rooke for her organisation of the event and the P&C for running the BBQ. The students had a great day in the sun. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of our Year 6 Sports Captains who again proved that they are great leaders.

Recognition Assembly

Yesterday, we held our Term 3 Recognition Assembly. This was a great opportunity to recognise our students’ achievements from the term. It was also a great opportunity to see our band and dance groups perform. Due to the busy term that we have had, we handed out 340 awards and recognitions during this assembly.

Sydney West Athletics Carnival

This Thursday, we have the largest number of students from our school representing the Castle Hill PSSA Zone at the Sydney West Area Championships. Congratulations to Cooper Smith, Lucas Baird, Max Arkins, Theo Foggo, Josh Waddington, Miles Hamilton-Foster, Hugo Seitz, Nate Appleyard, Sam McInerney, Tayem Reading, Ariana Aminzadeh, Nadia Gasparini, Alannah Kee Tiam, Elise Alam, Charlotte Arkins, Jade Knipler and Lachlan Hough.

Public Speaking

I would like to congratulate Ella Yoon, Charlotte Robinson, Ava Yoon, Eliza Robinson, Jacob Farhat and Avery Carmichael who represented our school at the Hills Public Speaking Competition. A special congratulations to Eliza Robinson who won the Stage 2 competition and will progress to the next stage. Thank you Miss Lee and Mrs Schimanowsky for the support of this program.

Traffic and Road Safety

We ask that people are patient when driving around the school, particularly during the drop off time in the morning and the pick-up time in the afternoon. The roads around the school are busy at this time and the safety of our school community is our highest concerns.

Medication At School

NSW Department of Education requires the school to follow strict procedures around the administering of medication while at school. At no stage should students have medication within their bags. Please drop by the school office and ask staff if you have any questions around these procedures.

Are You Moving In 2026?

If you are intending to leave the school this year, could you please notify the office on 9639 8518, as soon as possible (excluding Year 6 of course). Accurate numbers are important for our class planning and staffing for 2026.

Kindergarten Enrolments for 2026

If you are aware of any in-area children intending to enrol for next year (who haven’t already done so), please advise them to contact the school as soon as possible to fill in enrolment forms. This can be done by visiting https://winstonhil-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/enrolment.html

Congratulations to all the students who received awards at the Recognition Assembly yesterday. It was a wonderful celebration of their success and a great showcase of our talented students who entertained us with their performances from the Hills Performing Arts Festival.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

Focus Area for Week 9 and 10

This fortnight’s PBL focus is about being safe.  Students are reminded to be safe by keeping their hands and their feet to themselves. Posters will be put up around the school to emphasise this fortnight’s focus.

Winnie Rewards Day

The Sport House with the most Winnies this term was Fraser. They will enjoy having a snack and meeting Winnie this week.

Have a safe and restful break with your family. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Tuesday 14th October.

Design a Book Cover Competition

There were a significant number of entries completed to a very high standard, and it was very difficult to choose only two winning entries from each stage. Therefore, we have chosen two winners from each grade.  Congratulations to the winning students.

From the Chaplain

Dear School Community

I’ve continued offering chats this term to students needing support, whether it’s around friendships, stress, identity, or simply navigating a tough day. If you or someone you know could use a listening ear, I’m here.

As Term 3 wraps up, one quiet but powerful theme stands out: kindness.

Kindness isn’t just about being nice. It’s about empathy, patience, and creating space where others feel safe, seen, and respected. Whether in the classroom, at home, or just passing someone in the hallway, small acts like a smile, a kind word, or simply listening can make a big difference.

As we head into the break, let’s carry that kindness with us. Whether it’s a student reaching out to include someone or a parent taking the time to really listen, these small moments truly matter.

Throughout the break, may you remember that: You are seen. You matter. And you are not alone. Whether you’re thriving or just getting through the day, support is here and hope is always there.

My door is open. If you or your child would like someone to talk to, need emotional, mental, or spiritual support, or simply a quiet space to reflect, I am here. I am available for chats on Monday and Tuesday mornings.

Warmest regards,

Dawn Tan

School Chaplain
