Principal's Message

Dear Community

Can you believe that we have made it to the end of Term 2?

It was a very eventful term, in which we were able to squeeze in all the following things:

  • Bike Education lessons
  • 3-way conferences
  • Mother's Day activities
  • Browne's Dairy excursion
  • Kate Chaney visit
  • National Simultaneous Storytime
  • School photos
  • A community art project
  • Speak Up presentations
  • Early Childhood CBA reading group
  • Cross Country carnival
  • Book Fair
  • Winter Sports carnival

What a great community we are! None of the above experiences for our students would have been possible without our amazing staff and supportive and engaged families! Thanks everyone.

Term 3 looks like being just as busy with sporting carnivals, Father’s Day activities, spelling bees, Book Week and a number of excursions already on the planner. Something for everybody!

I would like to wish everyone a safe and restful holiday, relaxing and spending time with family and friends, and I hope everyone’s travel plans go smoothly!

We will see students back on Monday 17 July for the start of Term 3.

As always, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to call, or email me on Sarah.Dawson@education.wa.edu.au

Cyber Safety

Just a reminder that Nikki, our Chaplain has organised another Cyber Safety information session for parents. There are still some spots left, so get in quick if you are interested! Even better news is that our amazing P&C has agreed to fund the session, which would otherwise have cost around $25 per person. The session will be held on Monday the 31 July in the arts room from 6:30pm. More details can be found in the flyer below.

Voluntary Contributions

A big thank you to all families who have already paid their contributions. Your family’s contribution will go directly towards the purchase of resources and consumables needed in the provision of the learning program activities.

P&C News

 Hello SPS families!

We can’t believe how quickly Term 2 has gone. It’s been another great term for the P&C with the delivery of the Mother's Day plates, the Mother's Day raffle, Pyjama Day today and planning for some exciting events coming up later in the year. A huge thank you again to all of our committee members and volunteers who help to make these things happen.

At our last meeting, we voted to provide $400 towards new netball rings and balls for PE lessons and our Scarborough Waves netball teams. These items arrived this week and we are looking forward to seeing them in action.

REMINDER

Just a reminder that our quiz night will be held on Wednesday the 9 August at Grill’d Scarborough. Keep your eye out for ticketing information in the coming weeks. Tickets will be $30 and include entry and a meal.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please email us. scarboroughprimarypc@gmail.com

NEXT MEETING

Our next General Meeting will be held Tuesday 25 of July 2023 at 6:30 pm in the school library. It is a great opportunity to find out what is happening, make suggestions, and get an update.

UNIFORM SHOP

The Uniform Shop is open on Wednesday mornings 8:45 am to 9:15 am in Room 8. A limited number of the new ‘bike short’ style skorts in size 4 and 6 have arrived after a long wait, and we have an excess of hats if anybody needs a spare (or 3, or 4!).

Order forms can be downloaded from the school website https://scarboroughps.wa.edu.au/p-c/uniforms/

E-mailed orders will be delivered to your child’s classroom. Contact Carrie via scarboroughprimarypcuniform@gmail.com.

CANTEEN

We have been able to set up a canteen volunteer group so Laura, our wonderful Canteen Leader, has a few parents that are trained up and can help once or twice a term. There is always space for more volunteers, so if you would like to help out, please get in contact with Laura or Teneke (Canteen Coordinator).

The time needed to volunteer is Friday mornings between 11:00 am -12:30 pm.

Please also note that all canteen orders need to be placed via QuickCliq prior to 8:30 am on Friday.

ENTERTAINMENT BOOK

We continue to fundraise through the Entertainment Book. When you purchase the Entertainment Book, a portion will go to the P&C.

Order your membership here https://www.entertainment.com.au/orderbooks/86y129

CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE

We will continue to fundraise through the Containers for Change initiative. The Containers for Change bins can be found at the school entry at Hinderwell Street near the Room 9 Heritage Building. Keep on bringing those empty cans and bottles to support the P&C! Please note that we have previously given the wrong scheme ID, so double check next time you’re donating that it is the one below.

THESE BINS ARE NOT FOR RUBBISH BUT FOR ELIGIBLE EMPTY DRINK CONTAINERS ONLY, THANK YOU!

Alternatively, if you wish to donate at a refund point of your choosing you can quote our Scheme ID C10284773. If you prefer to attend a Reverse Vending Machine location, please use the barcode at the top of the P&C news. This may be your preference if you have a larger donation and be rest assured that the money goes back to the P&C.
