Binalong Public School

Binalong Bulletin

Term 3, Week 7 2024

From the Principal

Last Thursday we hosted the Yass Network Principal's Meeting here in our school hall. Our visiting principals, Director and Principal School Leader were all thoroughly impressed by our students, school, staff and community.

They loved having a school tour and visiting some of our favourite places in the school with our 4/5/6 students; sharing the meeting in our 'art gallery' AKA the hall;  watching our creative arts video made by Mrs Edwards; and watching the video Mrs Arabin made which was all about why we love Binalong Public School. We also enjoyed the delicious catering provided by our P&C.

I absolutely loved 'showing off' our school and sharing all of the wonderful aspects of what makes our school great! It was a great opportunity for all of us to reflect on the high quality of public education in small schools and the small teams who work incredibly hard and go above and beyond to deliver the many wide and varied opportunities for our kids.

We love Binalong Public School!

Baldry Shield Wallendbeen

Last Friday we travelled to Wallendbeen to participate in the long-standing tradition of the Baldry Shield. This is an event that includes students from surrounding small schools in a fun athletics carnival with some ball games and tabloids as well. In an unusual twist Binalong PS was again the largest school in attendance being the only P5 (more than 26 students) school there!

It is a wonderful chance for Binalong to support surrounding small schools to enjoy a a carnival and a great chance for Binalong students to support schools such as Wallendbeen PS to fill team to participate in relays and other games.

While numbers for participation were limited to only two students from each school in most events beyond age races, this was a great opportunity for some students to step up and compete in fields they may not have had a chance to compete in previously. We encourage participation from all of our students across the events so everyone gets to join in on the fun of the day!

Students enjoyed catching up with students from around the region who they have met at various school events, and some from the Transitions Creative Arts Camp, and displayed great enthusiasm to support each other on the day.

Wallendbeen currently have an enrolment of 2 students, so days like this are wonderful opportunities for their students to mix with larger groups and for their P&C to do some fundraising.

Thank you to Mr Paterson for driving the bus and to families for supporting with transport. Thank you also to the Binalong Brahmans for once again providing us with your bus so our students can attend events at an affordable cost.

Riverina Representatives

Zavier, Cooper, Oscar and Braxton represented the Cootamundra District at the Riverina Athletics Carnival in Albury today, racing in the Small Schools Nigel Bagley relay team. The boys were youngest team in this event and gave it their very best. Congratulations on representing at this level and thank you to the Brayshaw family for supporting the team with transport.

Paddock to Plate at Murrumburrah High School

Wednesday 4 September Binalong PS students attended Murrumburrah High School's Paddock to Plate. It was a beautiful day out with students experiencing many varied agricultural activities. At one point, students were even seen dancing with an inflatable cow...

It was a fantastic showcase of Murrumburrah High School, their kind and caring students, what they have on offer, and their fabulous team of staff.

We thoroughly enjoyed our day, seeing some friendly faces of past students, and I'm sure that a few students are already working on how they can persuade their parents to buy them a pony.

P&C News and Updates

P&C News and Updates

Dear Parents and Community Members

The P&C Association is gearing up for a busy and exciting September, and we need your support to make our events successful. We have our much-anticipated Bobbara Hill Walk on the 8th of September, which is a great family day out.

We have also been asked by the Binalong Community Club to assist with catering at the upcoming World Sand and Green Championships from Friday 27th to Sunday the 29th of September

We are in need of volunteers at both events, to help with meal preparation, serving of meals, setting up and packing down.  All funds raised at these events will go straight back into supporting our kids through resources at school or excursion opportunities.

If you are able to assist at either of these events please reach out to us at  bpspac@gmail.com or Liesh Cotter - 0466 913 209

We would also like you to save the date for the Murrumbateman Field Days which are happening on the 19th and 20th of October. This is one of our major fundraisers and we will be calling out for volunteers on those dates as well.
