Nhamirri Walal,
And just like that, we are already past the halfway mark of the first term.
We recently welcomed families to both our Preschool and Primary School for our annual Meet and Greet events. Teachers opened their classroom doors to share information about their programs, daily routines and classroom expectations. It was a little quieter than usual this year, and we are unsure whether that was due to the rain, fewer new staff, or other factors. Regardless, we truly value these opportunities to connect with families and strengthen our school–home partnerships. My thanks also to our staff, who put in a very long day to welcome everyone who attended.
On Friday of Week 4, some of our Transition students hosted the first assembly for the year. Only 17 days into “big school,” they were gorgeous. There was dancing, singing, and an incredible amount of self-control as they sat proudly on the big stage for a whole hour with hundreds of people watching. We are so proud of their efforts and confidence. Well done to Ms Plumridge, TB, and everyone who supported the students to make the assembly such a success.
Our swimming program is progressing well, with students from Years 3–6 now having completed their sessions. It has been a mammoth effort, with many staff working very hard behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly. So far, it has gone swimmingly, with our Early Childhood and Learning Centre classes now having their turn. The upcoming Swimming Carnival will be the culminating event of all this hard work; a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their progress, perseverance, and school spirit.
Last week we held our School Council AGM. I am pleased to announce that our new Council Chair is Stacey Crowther, and we have a full contingent of parent representatives, including several new members. My sincere thanks to Larissa Farr, our outgoing Council Chair. Larissa and her family have recently left town, but their advocacy and support of the school have been very much appreciated. The 2026 Council has already kicked off the year by putting their hand up to host the first town markets.
Over the coming weeks, we will turn some of our focus to NAPLAN for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. Students in these year levels will complete up to five assessments, most of which are now conducted online. Some minor disruptions to timetables are expected as we accommodate this mandatory testing.
As always, thank you to our families for your ongoing support and partnership. It is wonderful to see our students growing in confidence, capability and kindness each day. The second half of the term promises to be just as busy and rewarding, and I look forward to all that we will achieve together.
Warm wishes,
Rachel Blundell
Principal
