Term 4 - Week 4 (7th November, 2025)

Dear St Mary's School Community,

Focus Value: : Trust

We rely on each other to do the right thing.

Grandparents Day

Once again, we celebrated a wonderful liturgy and morning tea this morning for Grandparents Day. Special thanks to Mrs Riethmuller for her beautiful cakes and slices that were enjoyed by all. It was wonderful to see lots of Nan’s, Grandad’s and family members attend and then spend time with the children enjoying the sun and morning tea on the middle lawn. Please check out our special events section for all the highlight from the day.

Remembrance Day

We have our Remembrance Day Liturgy this Tuesday, the 11th of November, at 11.00am in the School Hall. All are welcome to attend the event to mark this annual special day in Australia’s history.

Reading at Mass

We have students from the Year One class reading at Mass next Sunday, the 16th of November. All are welcome to attend.

GEMS & Week Five Assembly

Mrs Riethmuller and I will be attending this semester’s GEMS meeting in Esperance next Thursday and Friday. Don’t forget Mrs Munns Music assembly also happens next Thursday.

God Bless

Mr H

Pre-Primary

Pre-Primary Term 4 Update:

How are we already at the end of Week 4?! The days are flying by!

We’ve been busy practising our dances for the upcoming End of Year Concert and squeezing in lots of learning before Swimming Lessons start next week.

Last week, our Pre-Primaries proudly hosted the All Saints Mass at the church and showed so much confidence getting up to do their readings in front of the school and their families.

In the classroom: We’ve been busy exploring Equal Sharing and Subtraction in Maths, which the kids have really enjoyed and been very engaged with! We’ve also been working hard on our reading and writing skills in Literacy.

At the end of last term, we held a vote on what our next Home Corner theme should be before moving into a Christmas one. The choices were an Ice Cream Shop or a Pizza Parlour – and the Ice Cream Shop came out on top! It’s been such a hit, with lots of creative play and delicious “ice creams” being made each day!

We’re looking forward to a fun and busy last few weeks of Pre-Primary 🤗

Special Events

Year 3 & 4 Red Ball Tennis Competition

On Wednesday 29th October, our Year 3 and 4 students took part in the inaugural Red Ball Tennis Competition run by Tennis West. Competing against students from Merredin College and Narembeen District High School, our players showed wonderful enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the day.

The Red Ball format is designed especially for younger players, making tennis fun, fast paced, and accessible. It was a fantastic day of rallies, teamwork, and learning! Students had the chance to mix partners, collaborate, take responsibility for their own scoring, and develop new game strategies and tactics.

A huge thank you to Tennis West for bringing this event to Merredin, and to our parent helpers who assisted on the day. We are already looking forward to taking part again in the future and hopefully running a similar event for our Year 5/6 students!
