Dear Drummoyne PS Community,
Updated School Uniform Guidelines for 2025
We are excited to share that our recently formed School Uniform Committee (made up of staff and parent representatives), with full support from the P&C, has updated our School Uniform Guidelines for 2025. These updates reflect our commitment to inclusivity, practicality and maintaining a consistent standard of high expectations across our school community.
- Non-Gendered Uniform Options - Families and students have the flexibility to choose from any of the uniform items. This change promotes inclusivity and allows all students to feel comfortable and confident in their attire.
- Sock Colours - Hot Weather (Summer) Uniform: White socks for all students. Cold Weather (Winter) Uniform: Navy socks for all students. This replaces the previous guideline where sock colours differed based on gender.
Hair Ties and Jewellery - Updated expectations around hair ties and jewellery have been included to ensure safety and consistency. Details on these can be found in the full guidelines, which will be available on our website and distributed to families.
Enforcement of Uniform Expectations - To ensure consistency, the school will reinforce uniform expectations more closely next year. Please support us by ensuring your child adheres to the guidelines.
Preparing for 2025:
As you get ready for next year, please be reminded that:
- All-black shoes are required for regular school days (all-black sneakers are acceptable).
- White or coloured sneakers (preferably all-white or black) are only permitted on your child’s designated sport day/s.
- Sport uniforms (including House Shirts) are only permitted on your child’s designated sport day/s.
We are confident that these changes will benefit our students and maintain the high standards of our school. Thank you for your continued support in ensuring our students wear their uniforms with pride. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Summer Soiree
Last night’s Summer Soirée was a wonderful celebration of our students’ musical talents and I couldn’t have been prouder as I watched them perform so confidently and passionately. It’s fantastic to see our band program growing, with more students taking advantage of this opportunity. A special thank you to Kevin Christmas from Directions in Music for coordinating our band program and organising last night’s performance.
The benefits of learning an instrument are clear - not only does it develop discipline and focus, but it also nurtures creativity and a love for music. Playing with other musicians adds a whole new dimension to this experience. It teaches teamwork, builds friendships and gives students the rewarding experience of contributing to something bigger than themselves. Additionally, authentic performance opportunities like last night’s soirée are invaluable for boosting students’ confidence. If your child isn’t yet part of the band program, I encourage you to consider joining next year. It’s a wonderful chance for child/ren to develop lifelong skills and enjoy the many rewards of making music with their peers.
Regards,
John Nguyen
