St Mary's Bulletin

Term 2 - Week 7 (13th June, 2025)

Cross Country

Congratulations to our Interschool Cross Country team for their wonderful results in today's Cross Country. Thank you once again to Mrs Crees for her organisational skills and Mrs MacDonald and Miss Gillet for accompanying the team to Bruce Rock. Please continue to read the Bulletin to see all of our amazing results.

Senior Centre visit

Our Yr 4/5 class visited the Seniors Centre on Thursday. As in our previous visits, the students were warmly received and I had a wonderful demonstration from River and Tahlia who had learned (quite an amazing amount given the short time they were there) some sign language from one of the Seniors.

School Promotional Video

A very special thank you,  to our talented duo Sophie and Brendan Crees, for their work in producing our school video on Thursday. The whole school was featured with more interviews to take place with staff on Tuesday. We can't wait to see the end result!

PD DAY

Another quick reminder that Monday 16 June is a Pupil Free Day. Therefore your children are not required to attend School. Enjoy!

Back Carpark

It has been noted that at times after school that the line of cars stretches out to South Ave, making conditions tricky for all drivers. So, in Term 3 we’ll trial a couple of different solutions to see if the problem can be alleviated somewhat. More information to follow in the coming weeks.

Life Link Day

Don’t forget that next Wednesday is Life Link day and we all get to wear our P.J’s for the day! Make sure you bring a gold coin!

Special Events

Interschool Cross Country - Bruce Rock

Following their outstanding performances at last week’s Faction Cross Country, 18 students travelled to Bruce Rock to represent our school in the Interschool Cross Country Carnival. Competing against a number of other Wheatbelt schools, our students faced very strong competition, with every runner giving their absolute best on the day.

It was perfect running conditions, but the course was challenging which tested endurance, determination, and perseverance, and our students rose to the occasion with courage and commitment. There were some outstanding individual performances, with 15 of our runners placing in the top 10 in their age divisions.

Congratulations to the following individuals who placed

8/U Boys

2nd  Mitchell Mills

3rd  Quinn Wahlsten

10/U Girls

1st Ava Webb

2nd Tahlia Govender

4th Maggie Gray

11/U Boys

2nd Jobe Walker

Overall St Mary’s placed Second in the Primary Division and Third overall.

Beyond the results, it was the students’ sportsmanship, encouragement of one another, and pride in representing the school that stood out most. Each participant contributed to a wonderful team effort and should be extremely proud of their achievements.

We sincerely thank the staff, parents, and volunteers who supported the students throughout the day. Your involvement is always appreciated and plays a vital role in the success of these events.

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week: Bridging Now to Next

Last week in Kindy we discussed creating peace by building bridges with our actions.  We read the story 'A Book of Bridges' and worked together to build our own bridges.

Next week we will discuss how we can build a bridge when things go wrong.

Year 4/5 Senior Centre Visit

On Thursday the 12th of June the Year 4/5's had the privilege of visiting the Seniors Centre and preforming their assembly item. The children were also very lucky to meet a lovely lady by the name of Robyn who taught some of the kids sign language and how to sign their name! The kids loved it!
