Term 4 - Week 6 (21st November, 2025)

Dear St Mary's School Community,

Focus Value: : Honesty

We tell the truth and act honestly.

Sand recall

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I am writing to provide a further update regarding the product safety recall affecting coloured sand products which may be present in CEWA schools. I want to again confirm that testing of the product itself has not found any respiratory asbestos (fibres that can be breathed in) and the overall risk has been assessed as low. Following assessment of products onsite I would like to inform you two containers have been identified at our school. Based on the Department of Health’s advice, we believe any threat posed to the safety of staff or students is negligible. Having followed due process, the items have now been safely removed from use and plans are in place to arrange removal from the campus. CEWA continues to follow the guidance of Product Safety Australia, in liaison with the Department of Education and other government agencies. As further information becomes available, I will be able to share this with you. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Year Five Speeches

I am very proud of our Year Five students who performed their leadership speeches on Monday. I’m also appreciative of the guidance that Mrs Mac and Miss Court gave to the children.

Reconciliation

Please keep these students, Halle Crees, Annabel Johnston, Tessa O’Neill, Jessica Nguygen,  in your prayers as they prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday 30 November at the 10.30am Mass. The school community is invited to share this special occassion with these students.

Concert Practice

As mentioned, the teachers and children have been working hard with their Concert prep. Special mention to Mrs Dolton and Mrs Silver for their help and song and dance expertise. It’ll be a great night next Wednesday.

Sports Fundraiser - Free Dress Day

Don't forget on Thursday the 27th of November our Head Boy and Girl and Faction Captains have organised a Free Dress Day. Students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite sports idol and wear something green. Please bring along a gold coin donation. Please remember to send students in suitable footwear as it will be sports day.

AGM

A reminder that we have our School AGM Monday evening at 7pm. All are welcome to attend. We are still after some parent volunteers and would love to welcome you into our CSAC and P&F.

God Bless

Mr H

Class News

Year Two/Three

This Term has been incredibly busy in Year 2/3!

We have been preparing for our Christmas concert, learning and experiencing lots of exciting new things both inside and outside the classroom.

We have had swimming lessons in Year Twos for the last two weeks and before that the Year Three’s went out and represented St Mary’s proudly in the first Red Ball Tennis Tournament for our school as well as the Cricket Cup. We have also been working on our measuring skills, hopefully these new skills will help us with Christmas coming up quickly!

This Friday the Year Three’s all took part in the Reconciliation Retreat. They learnt about the steps involved in making their First Reconciliation and participated in a number of activities that invited them to reflect on their own actions and how each person can make a change for the better with the help of their community and God’s guidance.

We cannot wait to share our Christmas concert with all the families at St Mary’s!
