From the Principal's Desk...

Prize ordering will close this week and 107 students have not yet submitted their selections. Please place your order ASAP, so we can finalise this as a school. All children who raised over $10 qualify to order! To order, go to your child's fun run page, ensure that the full name is entered correctly as well as the class, and submit. Any questions, please reach out to the P&C, who can assist - balmainpspc@gmail.com

PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING! We're collecting plastic bottle lids for a special project. Please wash and dry instead of recycling. There is a collection box in the foyer, outside the office. Thanks so much for your help!

SOME OF OUR STORIES ARE SAVED AS HIGHLIGHTS...

SPOTLIGHT ON...

1/2 PAMPAS DEER!!!

In Geography, 1/2P explored 'Google Earth' and our local area of Balmain. We drew maps with symbols to represent the areas we visit often!

5/6 PUKU!!!

This week in 5/6P, we have been learning about the Balmain Reservoir, underneath Gladstone Park. We explored the space online, and then designed new uses for this space that would benefit the community. We have been creating posters of our designs and what we can do with the empty space below Gladstone Park. We had ideas like Shopping Centers, Homeless Shelters, Arcades, Laser Tag Areas and even a two storey playground. Our posters included a detailed diagram of our reimagined spaces, as well as a list of information on our design. - Annabel & Sharanya

From the Office

If you wish to email your child's teacher, we kindly request that you DO NOT EMAIL their personal emails, as time-sensitive and/or important messages may not be seen and/or responded to on time. Please ONLY use the school's email address: balmain-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au. In the subject line, please type: 'ATT: name of teacher'. Teachers will attempt to respond within 2 working days. Thank you for your understanding.

The balmainps@gmail.com email address is no longer in use and not monitored. Please redirect your email to balmain-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au. Alternatively, contact the office on 9818 1177 during school office hours, 8:30am to 3:15pm Monday to Friday, throughout the school term.

***COMPASS IS OUR MAIN FORM OF COMMUNICATING WITH YOU***In case of urgent/important communication, notifications via the Compass app on your phone will keep you informed***

To ensure you receive all communication via Compass, please have the app downloaded on your phone, with the notifications turned ON.

Although the school pushes out notifications via the app and email, there may be times when an important message may be missed as emails may sometimes not be checked regularly.

If there were to be an emergency, (hopefully not), information would be pushed out via Compass.

Payments online

All online payments are now made using COMPASS.

Dropping something off?

Please label item/s with their full name and class.

Absences

Please use the Compass app to notify your child's teacher of their absence/s.

Kindy Parents/Carers

Sometimes children have 'accidents'. Where possible, we provide them with a clean dry change of clothes. Please keep spare underpants and socks in their bag, just in case.

Dropping off/collecting your child

If you are collecting your child early or dropping them off late, please come to the Office window on Eaton Street. Squeeze 'Charlie' the Chook and we will organise a note for the student.  Also, if you are dropping anything off for your child, please ensure all items are LABELLED with full name & class.

P&C...

All the smiles and excitement of the Colour Run were captured by a professional photographer, Jazzy Photos.Individual portraits of the children are on sale for $15 on Flexischools and will be available from next Friday. The photos are a beautiful memento of this wonderful event. The funds raised from the photos will go towards the P&C's second priority for 2024 - addressing school temperatures. We are presently in the process of putting blinds on all the windows throughout the school and hope to complete the north facing side of the main building by the start of Term 3. This is our last fundraise until the council election BBQ on 13 September.
