Principal's Report

Dear parents and carers,

As we come to the end of Term 2, it gives me great pleasure in sharing some wonderful news with the community.

Every five years, schools in NSW undergo an External Validation process using the School Excellence Framework. The School Excellence Framework provides a clear description of the key elements of high-quality practice across the areas of learning, teaching and leading.  Each year, schools assess their practices against the Framework to evaluate and report. This process gives schools the opportunity to measure progress against the school's strategic direction. It allows for schools to refine their practice to ensure that the school is making progress towards its vision. The validation process requires the school to provide evidence of meeting the descriptors which then needs to be validated by an external panel.

This term, our school went through the process, and it is with extreme delight and pride that I can inform the community that our school is excelling in all 14 elements. This is by no means an easy achievement. Out staff has worked extremely hard for the past six years to achieve this level of excellence. As the leader of the school, I feel privileged and honoured to have so many outstanding teachers at the school. As a community we should celebrate this success. Our aim is to keep growing and ensuring that we continue to provide our students with truly one of the best educational settings.

I would like to thank you all for bringing your child to school on time every day. Our school continues to have one of the best attendance rate in the state. School attendance is not choice, but compulsory. Unless your child is unwell or there is extenuating circumstance, your child should be at school.

As the winter months continue, please send your child to school in warm and comfortable full school uniform. If you need assistance with uniform, please see the office.

I wish you all a wonderful winter break.

Warm regards,

Manisha Gazula

Principal

Multicultural School Public Speaking Competition

2023 Winners

Stage 2 - Sashe Andonov

Stage 3 - Emily Farkas

They are competing on Thursday 15 June in the Regional Public Speaking Finals at Georges Hall Public School.  Well done to the 12 students who took place in our school final. Mrs Gazula and myself were very proud of the quality of the speeches and the effort that went into writing them. Congratulations to everyone and best of luck to the winners in the finals.

Debating News

Our Stage 3 Debating team have worked hard this semester and have completed two rounds of the Premier’s Debating Challenge so far. They have prepared to speak on topics about education and technology. It was very pleasing to see that their hard work and determination has earned them incredible results. Our team have debated against Ashcroft Public School and Canley Vale Public School and have won both debates. The feedback from the adjudicator about our speakers was highly positive and has motivated them to improve. Congratulations to all students involved.

We look forward to Round 3 at the end of this term where we will be competing against Lansvale Public School and the topic will be centred around parents and children. We wish our debating team every success on their debating journey!

Zone Cross Country

56 of Marsden Road’s fastest runners represented our school in the Zone Cross Country at Chipping Norton Lakes. It was a beautiful day, and thankfully the runners were able to run on dry ground (unlike years prior)! Their little hearts were pumping, both excitedly and nervously, waiting for their race to begin. By the end of their 2km or 3km run, they were sweaty and exhausted. Our runners tried their very best and demonstrated the Marsden Way when they weren’t racing. Well done to you all on your outstanding achievements! Keep practicing so that you can do even better next year.

A special congratulations to the following students who made it through to the Regional Cross Country:

Samara - 3L

Sarah - 3N

Violet - 5B

Saman - 6H

Lost property

During the cooler months as the day warms up we understand that sometimes your child may wear a jacket to school and take this off during the day. Due to this there has been a noticeable increase in lost property. All clothing with names on it has been returned to your teachers.

Parents, can you please ensure that your children's clothing, lunch boxes and drink bottles are all clearly labelled with your child's name so that it can be returned to you in the event that it is lost.

If you have lost anything this can be found in the silver box on the stage opposite Kindergarten.
