Monday 8th September Term 3 Week 8 2025

From the Principal

Student Success:

Well done to the following students who represented our school in the Zone Public Speaking finals held last week.

ES1 – Elke W & Jaxon B

Stage 1- Asher W & Audrey B

Stage 2- Peyton M & Violet K

Stage 3- Iris H & Michaella T

Special congratulations to Michaella T in 6M who was Runner Up in the Stage 3 Zone finals.

I would also like to give a special shout out to the following WBPS representatives who participated in the Regional Athletics carnival held last Friday:

Beau G, Isaac C, Ashton C, Cruz T, Bailey C, Emily D, Sofia F, Asher P, Charlie H and Cruz H.

All students made us so proud! A special congratulations to the Jnr Boys Relay Team consisting of Beau G, Isaac C, Ashton C and Cruz T, who made it to state- a first according to Miss Bath!  Sofia F came 3rd in the 1500m and earnt herself a spot in this event at the state carnival as well. We look forward to hearing of these students future success.

Parent Helpers:

A big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to the special group of parents who were able to come in and help with the setting up and sales at the Father’s Day stall back in Week 6. We could not do this without you and I know the students value all of your hard work!

Fabulous Fellas Afternoon:

It was wonderful to see all of our dads, grandads, pops and uncles enjoying the Fabulous Fellas afternoon with our students last Friday. The smiles on everyone’s faces (and the paint and tattoos 😊) as well as the amount of laughter across the school said it all. Thank you also to the staff for hosting the event and providing the fun for our families.

Reminder: K-6 combined Assembly – Week 9:

Our final assembly for Term 3 will be in Week 9. This assembly involves all K-6 students from WBPS. We hope to see interested parents and carers joining us on Tuesday 16th September at 1.55pm in the school hall.

School Forts/ Mills St tree:

Please remember that, although lots of fun, our 3 school forts are all out of bounds outside of school hours. Students are not permitted to play on them, even if parents are present. Last week, we had some little people playing on the primary fort one afternoon after school and we had an injury. Please follow our school expectations, as they are there for student protection. FYI - the large tree at the Mills St gates is actually on school grounds and is also not allowed to be climbed at any time. This is an obvious WHS request due to risk of injury.

School Uniform Reminder:

I remind families and students about the importance of wearing full school uniform every day at WBPS. We are beginning to see a lot of incorrect clothing and jewellery at school. When purchasing new uniforms for the 2026 school year, please keep the following expectations in mind.

* Correct coloured socks - white for girls and grey (or black) for boys.

* Black leather shoes or mostly black joggers are our approved uniform, and yet we are seeing a multitude of brightly coloured joggers being worn on a daily basis – please refrain from wearing them to school and when purchasing uniforms for 2026, please adhere to school uniform expectations. These days there are a multitude of shoe options to meet school uniform requirements, so coloured joggers are not necessary.

* Jewellery – only sleepers or studs are allowed in ears – no dangly earnings or larger loop earrings that can be torn out during sports and play time games. A watch is the only other jewellery allowed. If your child has a smart watch it is advisable to not wear it to school and if it does come in, unless on school mode, it must be handed in each morning at the front office and collected at the conclusion of school, like other devices.

* No necklaces, ankle bracelets or wrist bracelets of any kind are permitted at any time.

* No make-up is to be worn and nails must not be painted. OOSH have been reminded that they are not to paint students’ nails during school terms.

* Year 6 shirts are worn on Tuesdays or Fridays only, or to special Year 6 excursions, and this will always be indicated on the permission note.

We thank parents in advance for ensuring your children are adhering to school uniform expectations. Wearing of uniform allows all students to be on an equal playing field and makes us look like a great team when we venture outside of the school.

Substantive Principal Role at WBPS:

Finally, as stated in an Audiri notification sent out late last week, at this point in time, we have not been successful in appointing a new substantive principal to our school. The position was re-advertised last Wednesday, and our Director of Educational Leadership hopes that we may have an appointment by mid/ late Term 4. Once the position has been permanently filled, the school community will be notified. Until then, I will continue in the role of Acting Principal. It is always my absolute pleasure to support the fabulous students, community and staff of wonderful Warners Bay Public School.
