St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Wandal Newsletter

24 January 2024

Bernadette Brennan - Principal

Welcome to the 2024 school year. This year we have 39 new families joining our school and I trust our school community will be supportive and friendly in welcoming these families and children to St Joseph’s. Prep have been lucky to enjoy the staggered start and each small group has adventured through the school in search of the green sheep and discovered all parts of the campus throughout this quest. Years Three, Four and Five have settled in to the temporary learning spaces and the Fours and Fives are making the most being in open rooms with all students in the cohort. Families are invited to come along next Tuesday, 30 January and explore the classrooms, meet the teachers and join their children to grow in the knowledge of your child’s class.

Yesterday Bishop Michael, Director Leesa Jeffcoat, Assistant Director Mike Kelso and Deacon Peter visited the school to meet and chat with the staff and students. Bishop Michael enjoyed conversations with the students discussing his recent trip to India and answering many inquisitive questions about being a bishop.

I am looking positively upon this upcoming year of learning and encourage you to be active participants in your engagement with our community.

Gospel Prayer Reflection

Jesus calls us to be fishers of men and women. But it takes a lot of courage to cast out our net and reach out to God’s people.

We pray that we will have the faith to answer his call and learn to walk in Jesus’ path.

Welcome to the 2024 School Year

A warm welcome to you all as we commence our new school year! I trust you had an enjoyable holiday break spending time with your family and friends. I was fortunate enough to spend some quality time with my family and friends and spent a few days at the beach soaking up the sunshine.

Being back and part of our St Joseph’s Wandal School community is wonderful.  Over the coming weeks, if you have a moment, pop into the office to say hello and have a read of the “Meet our teachers” display.  This is a great way for you to place a name to a face and learn a little about each of our teachers at St Joseph’s Wandal.

Sacramental Program commencing Tuesday 30 January - St Peter’s Catholic Primary School

If your child is baptized (and over 8 years of age) and you would like them to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Communion, please join me at St Peter’s School Library for the Parent Information Night.  Alternatively, please do not hesitate to contact me at school if you require further information.
