The Brush Telegraph

Week 5 - Term 4, 2024

Message From The Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

COLOUR RUN

Wingham Brush Public School P&C are holding their major fundraiser for the year- the School Fun Run’s Crazy Colour Day!

Currently there are only 76 students that have created a profile. Students need to create a profile to start raising money and receiving their chosen prizes.

Create an online profile at funrun.com.au

Mark your calendars because on Thursday 21 November, our school grounds will be transformed into a canvas of colours. The event aims to promote health, wellness, and community spirit while having an absolute blast!

ATTENDANCE

Our attendance percentage for the term is currently an average of 88%.

I would like you to know that learning continues every day, even in the last few days. It is important to have your children attend school, right up until the last day of each week and term.

If your child is having any issues with attendance, please reach out to your child’s teacher to arrange for some support in getting them to school every day.

Our goal is to achieve over 93% attendance for our school.

GO BLUE DAY- GOLD COIN DONATION

World Diabetes Day 2024 is a global awareness campaign that aims to raise understanding about diabetes, advocate for improved diabetes care and prevention, and support those affected by the condition.

On Thursday 14 November, we are holding ‘Go Blue Day’.

Students need to bring a gold coin donation to wear out of uniform and anything blue including wigs, shoes, hats, bracelets and nails. Get creative!

UNE Discovery Day

Last week we were lucky enough to have the UNE Discovery Voyager Team attend our school.  The team did a range of different interactive, curriculum-aligned activities in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) over two days.  We donned lab coats and combined liquids and made bubbling concoctions. We learnt about fossils and had to figure out which animal they belonged to.  We also studied insects that we found in our school.  All students had a great time with the UNE staff and we are looking forward to them visiting again next year.

Swap It

SWAP IT is an evidence-based, healthy lunchbox program for primary schools. The program supports parents and carers to SWAP what is packed in their child’s lunchbox from sometimes foods to everyday foods.

The food children consume at school impacts their concentration, health and wellbeing. By improving lunchboxes, we can make a huge difference! The school lunchbox contains approximately one third of a child’s daily energy intake – a significant opportunity to improve nutrition and health outcomes.
