Staffing Update
It’s with great please that I can announce the appointment of 6 new permanent staff to WWSPS! A big congratulations to Mrs Watson, Mr Young, Mr Mckinnon, Miss Rasmussen and Miss Formston who have been appointed through the DoE’s Temporary Workforce Transition Program.
I would also like to welcome and congratulate Miss Millee Powell who has been appointed to our school through graduate appointment. Congratulations to you all and well deserved!
Athletics Carnival
Last Thursday, WWS hosted its annual K-6 Athletics Carnival at Adcock Park. As has been the case in recent years, the weather was amazing, as was the participation of the students and the organisation and flexibility of the staff. Congratulations to those students who will progress to the Zone Carnival.
Special thanks to Mr Young, Miss Mostaert, Mrs Watson and Mr Waight for all their work in getting the day up and running. Thanks also to all the parent for attending and cheering on the students.
Kindy Open Day
On Tuesday 25th July, WWS hosted the first of two Kindergarten Open Days. Kindy 2024 students and their parents visited the classrooms and toured the school grounds. A second Open Day will be held on Tuesday 5th September. If you know families with students of school age who live in our catchment area, please encourage them to attend and get to know our awesome school and meet our awesome teachers!
Zoo Excursion
This week Stage 3 visited the Zoo for an overnight excursion. Again, we were extremely fortunate with the weather and by all reports the students enjoyed looking at the animals and seeing the sights of the city in the distance. A special thanks to the staff who gave up their personal time to accompany the students overnight.
Education Week, Book Week & NAIDOC Week
Although Education Week is officially next week across NSW schools, as has been the case in previous years, WWS will move the celebration to Week 6 of this term to align with Book Week and NAIDOC Week to form one big week of events.
This allows us to maximise teaching time and also help parents who may wish to take time off work to visit the school.
New Projects
Our roof replacement project is finally finished, with all roofing in the school now completed in Colourbond. A new water cooler has also been installed in the 3-6 playground with the potential for more to be fitted in K-2. Our K-2 Toilets have been approved for a full upgrade during Semester 2 this year.
Stranger Danger
It would be greatly appreciated if all parents could remind children of the importance of stranger danger and reinforce the need for students to walk quickly and directly to and from school each day.
Please ensure students are aware not to speak with unknown people and provide options for them should they feel unsafe at any time. This issue has already been communicated by staff here at school.
Have a great week everyone,
Matt Barr
Principal
