Principal Message

Premier’s Spelling Bee

There was great excitement in the school hall yesterday as our class finalists competed in our school Spelling Bee Finals. Congratulations to all students who participated and special congratulations to our school winners who will now progress and compete at the regional finals in Term 3. Our school winners are:

Year 2-4:    Joseph J (Year 2)

Stage 3:     Ashton H (Year 6)

Student Reports

Our teachers are investing many hours on student reports to ensure they provide clear information about the progress of your child and information about the areas for further development. We look forward to these reports being emailed home to families in Week 10. Reports will also be available in the Sentral Parent Portal.

Car Safety

A reminder that parents are asked not to use the staff carpark at the front of the school. This is only a small area and our only disabled car spaces are located here. We have a number of families that rely on the use of these disabled facilities to drop off and collect students on a daily basis.

Athletics Carnival

We look forward to a wonderful day next Thursday for our annual athletics carnival at Mingara for students in Years 2-6. Thank you to the many parents who have volunteered to help support on the day. We greatly appreciate this support. On the same day, our K/1 students will have their own mini carnival at Mingara.

Kinder Information Evening

Tonight in our current Kinder rooms, we have our first Kindergarten Parent Information Evening from 6:00-7:00pm. This is a great opportunity for new parents considering sending their children to Wamberal in 2024 to meet staff and hear about the great programs and initiatives available.

Have a great week,

Paul Miller

Deputy Principal Message

Dear Wamberal families,

It has been lovely meeting our new parents and students during the Kindergarten 2024 interviews. A reminder that enrolments are now able to be made online via our school website. If you, or a family you know, have a child starting Kindergarten next year, we encourage you to commence the enrolment process to access all the transition to school opportunities.

Kindergarten 2024 Parent Information Session

We are looking forward to meeting with our 2024 Kindergarten parents tonight for our first Kindergarten 2024 Parent Information Evening. The session starts at 6:00pm – please meet our staff at the Lea Avenue office entry.

Attendance: Every Day Matters

Parents can now see their child's percentage attendance via the Sentral Parent Portal. This will make it easier for parents to see the correlation between days absent and percentage attendance.

Parents will have received an email last week advising how to access the Sentral Parent Portal. Please email our school if you are needing support in accessing the parent portal.

Positive Behaviour for Learning: Upstanders

This week all students are learning about being safe respectful learners by being an upstander. Students are learning about what an upstander is, the difference between a bystander and an upstander, and strategies that support upstander behaviour. These practical antibullying lessons are led by our Year 6 students during which they teach their K-5 peers the importance of upstander behaviour.

Social Emotional Learning

This week’s Smiling Minds schoolwide focus is ‘savouring’ positive experiences.

Learning mindfulness can be extended at home using the free Smiling Minds app. Smiling Minds also provides a resource guide for parents with an introduction to mindfulness and an overview of the science and evidence-based research.

Helping Kids Thrive Online

eSafety.gov.au is an invaluable website created by the Australian Government's eSafety Commissioner. It is dedicated to empowering parents, educators, and children with the knowledge and skills to safely navigate the digital landscape. With an abundance of resources, guidance, and educational materials, this platform serves as your go-to hub for fostering a positive and secure online environment for your primary school-aged children.

Have a wonderful week.

PSSA Netball Gala Day

On Monday 5 June, we went to Adcock Park to play in the PSSA Netball Gala Day. We played against other school teams from around the Central Coast, and we won 4 out of our 5 games. On behalf of our school netball team, we want to say thank you to Mrs Rorich and Mrs Tyson for all their effort and support towards coaching us, umpiring and organising the day.  It was lots of fun and a great experience for everyone.

PSSA Soccer Gala Day - Girls

On Thursday last week, Stage 3 girls played in a PSSA Soccer Gala Day. We were a strong team of girls ready to play. We won our first game against Brooke Avenue PS 6-1. This put us into the 2nd round of the competition were we came up against Terrigal PS. Unfortunately, we went down 4 -1 but we never gave up and played our best. At the end of the day we were so proud and had a great time with our friends and coach Mr Foyel. We would like to thank all the parents and carers who were able to transport us and help out on the day.

Thank you

Annabelle H.
