Week 5, Term 1
Hi everyone and welcome back to Woy Woy South PS for 2025! I would like to extend a warm welcome to families who are new to our school who are starting the school year at Woy Woy South for the first time. We are very excited to have you with us and know that you will enjoy your time at our school.
Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions or queries regarding school information or procedures. We are especially excited to welcome our new kindergarten students and their families.
Our newsletter will be released monthly in 2025, on weeks 2, 4 and 10 the school terms (slight variation for Term 1). The newsletter can be accessed most easily through the Skoolbag App in Term 1, and later in the year on Schoolbytes.
Starting 2025
Our students have made a great start to the school year and have great maturity in adapting to new classes and teachers. Hopefully, our Parent Information Evenings provided you with a clearer understanding of the requirements for your child’s stage and individual class. While these sessions provided an initial overview, classroom teachers are always willing to arrange times to meet with you or talk over then phone if you have any questions or concerns.
Welcomes & Congratulations
I’d like to extend a warm welcome to the new staff commencing at Woy Woy South in 2025 -
- Mrs Shelley Wilding, Class Teacher 5/6S
- Mrs Natalie Fullagar, (new, but not new!) Class Teacher 3/4F
- Additionally, congratulations to Mrs Kelly and Mrs McNeill, who are relieving as Assistant Principals in Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4) and Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6) respectively.
School Uniform
School Uniforms have looked very sharp for the commencement of the school year. A big thanks to all families for preparing the children so well. A reminder that all WWS students are requested to attend school in full summer uniform during Term 1, which includes a red WWS school hat and plain black shoes. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the requirements as this contributes significantly to ensuring a positive start to the year and maintaining ongoing positive school pride and culture.
Swimming Carnival
Last Wednesday, WWS hosted its first major student event for the school year with the running of the swimming carnival at Peninsula Leisure Centre. All students did a great job of giving their best and representing their newly named sports houses, Kookaburras, Sting Rays, Red Bellies and Dingoes, with great pride.
Thanks to those parents who were able to be there for Support, it was greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Miss Mostaert and Miss Boxsell for their organisation of the event. The Zone Swimming Carnival will take place on March 11th, also at Peninsula Leisure Centre. Good luck to all students representing WWS!
Wishing you all a great start to 2025,
Matt Barr
Principal
