That's a Wrap!

With only one more sleep left in the term, we will be closing the doors on our 2024 school year. We have had an exceptional week celebrating the achievements of our students, showcasing their talents and farewelling our Year 6 students. Thank you to all our families for taking the time to attend our Presentation night, Colour Run, Swimming Carnival, Clap-out and Year 6 graduation dinner. It has also been very rewarding to chat with each of our 2025 Prep students and their parent/carer in the past few weeks. They are really looking forward to coming to ‘big’ school and are certainly demonstrating readiness for the new challenge.

Report cards were emailed to our families on Thursday morning. Please check your spam or junk mail box if you have not received it. It will appear on your QParents account as well.

Booklists for 2025 were sent home in hard copy on Thursday and will be on Audiri for all families. They will be uploaded onto our school website shortly. Please note that the official start date for the 2025 school year for students is TUESDAY 28 JANUARY. Staff will be hard at work in the previous week with the school office open at designated times for enrolments and queries (keep an eye on Audiri for dates and times). Thursday 23 January, from 1-3pm, classrooms will be open for book drop-off and the lovely Uniform Shop volunteers will be available to help you and your children.

Remember to collect your child’s medication from school before the holidays and store it correctly at home. If your child requires this medication for the 2025 school year, make sure that it is in-date before taking it back to school. There will be new guidelines for parents supplying medication to school to ensure safety of children and accountability of medication. Please keep an eye out for this information on Audiri.

As we approach the holiday season, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all of you. May this festive season bring joy, relaxation, and time well spent with loved ones. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new year with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday and a happy, healthy New Year!

Farewell Year 6!

2025 Captains

It has been my pleasure to announce the School Leaders for 2025. It represents the end of an extended selection process, with students having undertaken, a nomination process, a written application, speeches to their voting peers and a final interview with Helen and Sandy from Peachester CWA.

Prep/1 News

What a great year the Prep/One class has had. They are enthusiastic and hard working class and it has been so exciting to watch their progress.

At the beginning of the term, we received a letter about a missing dog called Pat – then we were sent photos of Pat in many different places that we wrote about.

At the end of the term, we wrote a story about Pat’s adventures. We also learnt about and wrote some character descriptions. The class produced some fabulous writing and we are very proud of them.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday and we are looking forward to next year!

Year 1/2 News

What a wonderful year it has been!

We have finished the year writing some quirky poetry as well as our new event for a familiar story.  Students took their story home in a little blue book to share with their families so please have a read, they are quite good stories.  I was so impressed to see everyone improve their maths tests results. Well done everyone you worked hard on this.

When I reflect on the year, I would have to say what stands out for me with the year 1-2’s is their wonderful imaginations and joyful way they play with each other.  Their kind way of sharing equipment and helping each other was always evident, every single time we had some time for free play.  Constructing imaginative designs out of Mobilo has been the favourite free choice activity and we have seen some amazing things created.  Finally, the caring way all our year two’s would help the year one’s and how our amazing year one’s kept up with the big grade two’s so often.  You are all such precious children and I will miss seeing you grow next year.

We finished the year baking gingerbread together.  The students were so careful kneading the dough, cutting out the biscuits, washing and drying up, putting away, carefully carrying their biscuits back to the classroom on a slippery plate (we didn’t drop one)!  Then finally, carefully decorating their gingerbread with icing.  They all did such a careful job.

Potato Olympics

For our last week of school, we participated in the Potato Olympics. This involved decorating and personalising our potatoes with pens and streamers.

  • Our first event was whose potato was the prettiest, we decided this by voting.
  • The next event was break dancing, which involved spinning our potatoes and seeing which potato could spin for the longest time.
  • The next event was the ruler race which was when we had to balance our potato on a ruler and get from one line to the other. It was hard because some potatoes were rounder and heavier.
  • The next event was Bocci and when we threw a tennis ball and we had to land our potato closest to the tennis ball. It was tricky because our potatoes kept rolling away from where they landed.
  • After lunch we had the last two events. First, we had the sprints, where we had to roll our potatoes down a hill and be the first to reach the finish line.
  • Finally, we had potato shotput, which was throwing our potato farthest across the oval. Some of the potatoes were destroyed on the impact of hitting the ground.

The potato Olympics were a fun way to end 2024.

Robyn, Emily, Angeline and Mabel.

Thank you Peachester families for a thoroughly enjoyable 2024 school year. I have appreciated all of your support. I am very proud of all the progress your children have made.

I hope you all have a relaxing holiday and I look forward to seeing you in 2025.

Story Dogs

Stewie has loved his Thursday’s at Peachester State School working with students from Prep to Year 3 on their reading and love of books.

He has learnt a lot this year and listened to some beautiful picture books from the library. The students at Peachester often say that Thursday’s is their favourite day of the week!

Miss Jo has enjoyed working with students from all over the school on their Maths and English both in the classroom and in smaller more intensive groups. Some students from Year’s 4 and 6 participated in the Australian Maths Trust BEBRAS competition.

See how you go with the question below.
