Tell Them From Me Survey

The Tell Them From Me survey for parents, students and teachers has opened for 2023. We already have 171 responses, which is fantastic! The survey closes in late November.

We really value the contributions that our parents make to our school and would like to invite all parents to complete the Tell them from Me Parent Survey by following the link on:

http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/9vmgq

We will be running a competition for the K-2 and 3-6 classes with the highest percentage of parent responses. Your help with this is much appreciated.

A note has been sent home with all students. If you complete the survey, please return the slip at the bottom of the note to your child’s classroom teacher.

Presentation Days 2023

This year our Presentation Days will be held on December 5 (K-2) & 6 (3-6). As has been the case in previous years, for those student receiving awards, invitations for the event will be sent in the weeks to come so that parents can be present to celebrate their children’s achievements.

Communication Options

A reminder that one the best ways to stay in touch with school events and coming dates is to download the WWSPS Skoolbag App. This will provide you with relevant alerts as events draw near. Our newsletter, website, school sign and Facebook page also assist to communicate information about these occasions.

Additionally, feel free to contact the school at any time to speak with our administrative staff or your child’s classroom teacher. This way, an appropriate time that suits your work and family commitments can be arranged.

Grandparents Day

On Friday November 10th, WWS will be hosting our annual Grandparent’s Day. Please keep any eye out for further details regarding the day, which will include classroom visits and morning tea. We are looking forward to seeing you on what is one of our favourite school events.

Ready for School (R4S)

For Kindy 2024 parents, our Ready for School (R4S) program kicks off on Tuesday next week and we are looking forward to seeing all of our new students and their families. If you know anyone living in our school zone who has children of school age who have not yet made contact about starting school in 2024, please pass on our details.

Library Books

If students still have unreturned library books, could they please return these next week? Our librarians will shortly be conducting stocktake and need all books retuned asap.

Have a great week everyone,

Matt Barr

Principal

This remarkable achievement qualifies him to represent Sydney North at the State Championships. Well done Leo, we are extremely proud of you!

Premiers Sporting Challenge

Congratulations to all our students for their achievement in the Premiers Sporting Challenge. We have been carefully logging your physical activity throughout Term 3 and Parents should see a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum award coming home this week.

A regular habit of exercise and activity is one of the pillars of a healthy and happy life so we are pleased with how well our students have done!

Preparation for 2024 Carnivals

It is a great time for students to get ready for our Major carnivals next year.Swimming - get used to doing a 50m lap of Freestyle. If your child can only swim 10m, that is great! Next time, see if they can make 11 or 12m, the next time try for 12 or 13m.

Doing multiple laps of the backyard pool is a terrific alternative. With persistent effort they will get the satisfaction of participating in the school carnival! Cross Country - The same principle applies. Grades 2-4 will run 2km which is 10-15 minutes, Grades 5-6 will run 3km which is 15-20 minutes. Work from running 2-3 minutes without stopping, then slowly but surely build to 15-20 minutes.

Cross Country Training

Friday morning for the rest of term 4 and term 1 2024 - 8am outside the Canteen. All students in Grades 2-6 are welcome. We will practice running around the school and then doing it again and again and again. Then again.

No bookings or notice required, come along and have a run! All levels of ability are welcome, training is only cancelled in case of wet weather or Mr Young being unwell.

2024 Representative Sport

Students in Grades 4-6 next year will be informed soon about Representative Sport in 2024. This involves trying out and playing for the school team in the PSSA Knockout Competition in sports like Basketball, Cricket, Football, Netball and Rugby League.

It also allows our highest performing student athletes trying out in these sports to represent our entire region. All tryouts and competitions will commence in 2024 with some sports very early in Term 1.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

Classroom Expectations

Positive Behaviour For Learning

To start Term Two, the whole school focus is remembering our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships when inside the classroom. It is great to reset after the holidays and promote a learning environment that sets every student up for success. By having Classroom Expectations displayed and taught, all students know the rules of the classroom and how to behave to be successful.

After School

Positive Behaviour For Learning

In week 2, the whole school focus is how to behave Before School. We should always show our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Relationships at all times Before School. As a school we can be successful by showing:

Respect

· Share the space

· Follow teachers instructions

Responsibility

· Be in the right area

· sit down quietly and wait for morning bell

· Small balls only

Relationships

· use nice words
