Fostering a Safe and Happy School Environment

Dear Peachester Families,

As we near the end of Term 3, it’s important to reflect on how we can continue to build a safe and happy environment for all our students. Creating a positive school climate is not just the job of the school staff; it’s something we work on together with our families.

Here are some ways you can help support a safe and happy environment at home and at school:

  • Model Positive Behaviours: Children learn a lot from observing adults. Show kindness, patience, and respect in your interactions—it sets a powerful example.
  • Talk About Feelings: Encourage your child to express their emotions and listen without judgment. This helps them feel understood and teaches them how to handle their feelings constructively.
  • Encourage Open Communication: Let your child know they can talk to you, their teacher, or another trusted adult if something is bothering them at school.

Thank you for being partners in fostering a nurturing environment where every Peachester learner feels safe and happy.

Warm regards,

Kim Fillery

Year 3 News

Year 4/5 News

What a busy term! For this instalment of the newsletter, some students from years 4 and 5 have written about things that they have found memorable. We hope you enjoy.

Netball Gala Day: Mabel

This term in week 10, we had our netball gala day. It was really fun. Everyone enjoyed it. We got to go to Woodford on the bus. When we got there, Mr. Hugget put us into teams. There were three senior teams and two junior teams. All of the teams played five games each. There was a grass court and three indoor courts. We were all exhausted by the end of the day.

Peachester Recycling Program: Angie

This term four students were chosen to participate in the Peachester Recycling Program. The students selected were Emily, Mabel, Robyn and Angie. Every second day, these four students collect the recycling bins from each classroom and office. They take them to the bigger recycling bins and soon they get picked up and recycled. This program is for preventing less landfill and helping the environment. So far, all students involved have done a great job.

Soccer Gala Day: Charlie R. and Bailey

This term, years 4, 5 and 6 went to a soccer gala day at Stanley Rivers Football Club. We were playing speed soccer. Speed soccer is different to normal soccer. When you start, all players have to be on the goal line, not in the middle. Also, when someone scores, they have to go back into the goals until someone scores again. You cannot score again until everyone else on your team has scored. This means that people have to pass and work very well as a team. Peachester did very well and one Peachester team won the senior division. This team consisted of Ryder, Jack, Eliana, Olive and Indi. All of the Peachester teams showed great sportsmanship. We all had a fantastic time.

English Term 3: Robyn

This term in English our class studied the quest novel Rowan of Rin. This story is about a scared and weak boy called Rowan who embarks on a journey to the top of a mountain to restore the village’s water which had mysteriously dried up. For our assessment, we had to explain how the author (Emily Rodda) represented Rowan in an important event. First, we had to choose an important event from the book. Next, we had to write about how Emily Rodda portrayed Rowan in this event. It was interesting to write about how Rowan changed as a character throughout the book.

This term we also had our annual book week celebration and dress up day. It was fantastic to see so many creative costumes.

Year 5/6 News

Instrumental Music

In week 8 on Monday and Tuesday, Eliana and Isabelle went to Venue 114 in Kawana for the Advanced Instrumental Camp. We learnt 8 different pieces and chose 3 to play on the second day. We played Shepherds Hay, Night Fury and Moai. We really enjoyed it and would like to do it again.

Then on Wednesday Jack, Makenzie, Zoe, Olive, Indigo and Penny went to Venue 114. They went for the Intermediate Instrumental Camp. They learnt 8 pieces and played 3 for the concert. The pieces were Pinata, Up, Up and Away, and Wizards of the West.

We all thought it was amazing and would like to do it again next year.

Billy Moore Cup

In week 9 on Wednesday Jack, Ryder S, Ryder D, Zailey, Beau, Liam, K-diss, Sonny, Braxton, Peytonn, Isabelle, Hudson, Lewis and Zayden participated in the Billy More Cup. There were two teams, a developing and an experienced team. The developing team won two games and lost two games. While the experienced team won 1 game and lost the rest.

Everyone tried their best and had heaps of fun.

Netball Gala Day

On Wednesday week 10, grades 4 to 6 went to a Netball Gala Day at Woodford State School.  We all had lots of fun. Our school had put forward three senior teams and two junior teams.  Five students from Peachester State School got a medal for good sportsmanship. Kilcoy won the whole competition. We all played six fifteen-minute games.

Well, done to every one that got a medal and participated on the day.
