From the Leadership Team
I am sure many of you are preparing for the long weekend with either a short getaway, a relaxing few days or an opportunity to catch up on the never ending ‘to do’. Remember that for students it is an extra long one with Tuesday being a Pupil Free Day. On this day staff will be engaging in professional learning focused on maths and inclusive practices. These days are a fantastic opportunity for staff to work together to continue to ensure that our teaching and learning is continuous and connected between classes and across year levels.
Our Year 5/6 students have all had a fantastic opportunity today to head to Eudunda for the Lightning Carnival. Students can have a go at football and netball, build their relationships and get to meet other students from surrounding schools. We look forward to hearing all about the day!
A reminder that school photos are booked for Monday 17th June. Envelopes can be collected from the Front Office or you can pay online following the information posted on Audiri.
This term a few classes have had 1st year pre-service teachers working with them. After visiting one day per week their practicum finished with a full week ending today. It was wonderful to have a couple of ex-Kapunda students among the mix. We have also had a group of Kapunda High School students who are completing their Research Projects on Mental Health visit us. These students have also established a colouring-in competition to raise awareness around Mental Health among young people. We thoroughly enjoy re-connecting with ex-students and seeing them working and striving to reach their potential.
Check out the information about the 24 hour Motorbike Trial. If you can spare a couple of hours to help out at our food stall, please contact the Front Office. This is a fantastic fundraising opportunity for the school. I would like to acknowledge the work of the Governing Council members to plan and coordinate the operation of the stall.
We are still looking for some parents/community members to join us in our different committees/working parties. Keep an eye out for information coming out via Audiri and Facebook. We are hoping to start holding meetings by the beginning of Term 3.
We wish you all a lovely long weekend.
Sharon, Kerry and Dan
