Principal's Blog

Welcome to Week 9 Term 1 Caves Beach Public School for 2025

Make My Day

Last week I was very pleased to see this outstanding piece of work from Shiloh in KF. Shiloh expressed that she was an artist, and we can clearly see how she has beautifully illustrated her work. I was most impressed by her sentences where she has correctly used capital letters, spacing and full stops. Well done Shiloh you are a star!

Real School Parent Session

Last Tuesday afternoon we held a very successful Real Schools Parent Information Session. During the day our Real Schools facilitator, Marion Walsh-Gay had conducted classroom walk throughs with staff, making observations which were shared as a learning tool for our next steps. This process demonstrated our classrooms exhibit high student agency, opportunities for student voice in problem solving, many and varied inclusion strategies and clear behavioural expectations. Marion has informed that she has received several very positive emails from parents in attendance thanking her for her informative session.

Below are student responses for one of the questions asked on the day

What helps everyone in your class feel included and heard?

Give everyone a go; respect everyone; include everyone

Be kind be respectful show integrity

Listen to classmates and include all

My teacher makes us feel like we are on the same level as a group.

Let people join in; no talking over some one when they are trying to speak

Think-pair-share; make sure everyone is included

Ask people to join the game, our morning circle includes everyone

Let others join and tell them rules of the game

Teamwork; morning circle

Grow Your Mind

As we continue towards the end of Term 1, it is

more important than ever, to use our Grow Your Mind animals

to look after our mental health and each other.

This week is the ELEPHANT who helps us remember what we have learnt.   To flourish we need to continue learning something new everyday, take time to breath and move our bodies!

Environmental Group

What a productive and plentiful term it has been for the Enviro Group. Students have been busy watering, weeding and harvesting bumper crops of eggplant, zucchini and beans. We are eagerly awaiting the ripening of our one and only Queensland blue pumpkin. Students have enjoyed eating zucchini egg slice and zucchini cake but most weren’t too impressed with roasted eggplant. Maybe baba ghanoush will be a hit?! Our helpers have been great at getting the recycling bins out and in each fortnight and everyday we have enthusiastic volunteers keeping our beautiful playground tidy. We are looking forward to seeing what we can grow in our garden over the cooler months and tasting our produce.

Learning and Support

Learning Support Team

Mr Joshua Honeysett - SLSO

  • Tell us something about yourself (brief background, best place for coffee, best beach, what days do you work at Caves Beach PS)

I am proud Wiradjuri descendant. I enjoy footy, sport, rugby league and I used to play rugby union in Sydney for Manly. Best place for coffee is Jimmy’s on the Lake, Warners Bay. I love fishing and Redhead is my favourite beach.

  • What does a SLSO do at school?

I enjoy working with many students across all year levels, supporting their cultural and physical education and learning needs. I am thankful for the opportunity of working at Caves Beach Public School.
