Thirty-second Ordinary Sunday 12 November 2023

The Gospel (Matthew 25: 1 - 4, 13)

Jesus continued, “God’s kingdom is like ten young bridesmaids who took oil lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Five were silly and five were smart. The silly bridesmaids took lamps, but no extra oil. The smart bridesmaids took jars of oil to feed their lamps ... So stay alert. You have no idea when he might arrive”.

... On the way to Mass

Ask your children, “How can we be prepared to receive Jesus when he comes to us?” Think about the ways you prepare yourself for Mass and to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. What else can you do to prepare your hearts for Mass?

On the way home from Mass ...

What do you think Jesus meant when he talked about keeping our light burning? How can we make sure we are ready to meet him when he comes?

The Prayer

Friends, be prepared to do the work of God. Lord, prepare us. Be prepared to see our neighbour’s needs. Lord, prepare us. Be prepared to fight for justice and support those who are oppressed. Lord, prepare us. Be prepared to speak words of comfort. Lord, prepare us. Be prepared to meet Jesus in any situation. Lord, we are prepared. Amen.

The Question of the Week

Staff/Parents

When have you regretted that you did not look ahead and foresee the consequences of an action?

Primary Students

Is there something coming up this week that you could be better prepared for? What might happen if you do not prepare?

The Action

Keep vigil for wisdom. Make time for spiritual reading regularly, as well as prayer, solitude, and worship. Get into the habit of discerning God’s will as you make decisions regarding relationships and resources.

Building Update

Work has commenced this week installing the artificial grass to our top playground. This should be completed in a few weeks.

OLOL Band

Last Thursday, our school band entertained us with a wonderful repertoire of songs. Years 2, 3 and 4 thoroughly enjoyed every song but the last song was the favourite. Our band had their audience clapping and singing along to “Happy.”  We are so proud of the improvement and dedication from all members of the OLOL senior band. Thank you to Miss Karen and Mr Ramon for all your hard work.

If you would like to join the band in 2024, and are in years 3-6, please read the form attached to this newsletter.
