Newsletter 12 June 2026

Principal's Report

 Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to our Newsletter for Week 8. I can’t believe how quickly this term has progressed. This is a very busy time for our students and teachers, finishing assessments and finalising semester reports. Reports will be emailed home on Thursday 25th June.

Behaviour Focus for Week 9 & 10

Be an active participant

Please talk to your child about our behaviour focus for this fortnight and discuss ways in which they can enact the desired behaviours listed. Having this message reinforced at home will help students realise that we are all working together to ensure they are being the very best they can be.

Maleny Show

Our students played extremely well as part of the combined Glasshouse Coalition Band at Maleny Show on Friday 29 May. Thank you to Mrs Gallagher for all her hard work, preparing our students for this performance. Despite the very muddy conditions, our students and parents were thrilled to be a part of this community event. Congratulations to all students for a wonderful performance.

Inter-School Soccer & Netball

Thank you to Miss Prior and Miss Turner who supervised students at inter-school soccer and Netball last Friday. Our students played extremely well and showed great sportsmanship throughout the day. Our Netball players won 2 games and drew 1 game. Our soccer players also won 2 games and drew 2 games. Inter-school soccer concludes today. Thank you to Ms Murphy for organising the event and congratulations to our students!

Chappy Cupcake Day

Thank you to our Chaplaincy Committee, Jo Grebert, Robyn Atwell, Sue Bell and students for all their hard work in organising and running Cupcake Day on Thursday. The day was a huge success making $480.00 profit.

Have a great weekend!

HODC Report

Reporting

Our report cards are distributed on Thursday 26 June (week 10) via email. If you have recently changed email address, please contact the office to confirm that we have the correct one on our system.

We use a learning statement approach. This means that for each learning area there will be a statement outlining what has been assessed in the semester. They are written using the Australian Curriculum achievement standards. These learning statements are an overview, they are only bespoke if there are specific plans in place for your child.

For children in Years 3-6, all learning areas will be graded on a A-E scale. In Prep-Year 2, there is a similar scale that uses descriptions (applying-beginning).

The following provides a brief explanation of what each overall judgement (grade) means:

C – on balance, the student demonstrated the Australian Curriculum elements in the learning statement

B – on balance, the student demonstrated the Australian Curriculum elements in different contexts and/or at higher complexity

A - on balance, the student demonstrated the Australian Curriculum elements in different contexts and at higher complexity

D - on balance, the student demonstrated some of the Australian Curriculum elements in the learning statement.

E – on balance, the student required support to demonstrate few Australian Curriculum elements in the learning statement.

Incursions and excursions

We have some very exciting incursions and excursions coming up.

We look for incursion/excursion opportunities that value-add to our curriculum delivery in the school. Upcoming ones include:

Term 2, Week 10 – UniSC Careers Expo – Year 5

Term 3, Week 4 – Beerwah State High School Culture Sharing Day. Year 4-6 indigenous students

Term 3, Week 5 – Year 5/6 Camp

When we have details confirmed for each of the incursions/excursions, they will be released through consent management on QParents.

Student council – free dress day

On Tuesday 23/6 (week 10), student council will be holding a free dress day. This is a fundraiser for student council who are completing a school project this year.

Please bring a gold coin donation and ensure that everything worn is school appropriate.

Parent-teacher interviews

Parent-teacher interviews are the cornerstone of the relationship between parents and teachers, and directly affect educational outcomes. Term three interviews are very important as they provide feedback about where students are at and the next steps in their learning.

Our Parent-teacher interviews are scheduled for Wednesday of Week 2 in Term 3 (Wednesday 22/7) in the school hall at 3:10 – 6:00pm.

Bookings will open Monday 22 June at 3:00pm.

Bookings will close Monday 20 July at 3:00pm.

· interviews with class teachers are 10 mins with a 2 minute break in between meetings.

· for children who are supported by our support teachers - we are also offering 20 minute interviews with these teachers

· spaces for all interviews are limited. If you require more time, please contact your teacher directly to make alternative arrangements.

Student Services

At Beerwah, the Student Services team meets every second week to discuss how best to support our students’ learning and support needs.  Sometimes students’ needs are identified on enrolment or through our moderation process and other times individual student needs are identified by teachers.

Classroom teachers may discuss student needs with parents and carers and if necessary a referral will be made to the Student Services team.  If this is necessary, a green permission form will be sent home, explaining the process and we encourage you to complete the questionnaire on the rear of the form to help us to understand the needs of your student more clearly.

Our team are currently running an intervention program focussing on supporting students requiring additional support in the areas of phonemic awareness and phonics.
