From the Principal

After 40 days of Lent, a time of preparation and reflection, the Easter season, which last 50 days, provides an opportunity for Christians to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and his time with the apostles, helping them to prepare to share the Good News of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection before sending them the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. In John’s Gospel, Jesus greets the disciples after his resurrection with the words ‘Peace be with you’ and I wish all in our community the peace Jesus wishes for us in the Easter season.

Holy Week Commemorations

Last week our students presented and engaged in commemorations of the events leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection.  These moving liturgies provided us with an opportunity to reflect and pray and I thank Seva Maitianos, our RE leader, our teachers and students, for their preparation of these event.

Upon our return to school on Tuesday, Fr Santhosh and our Year 1/2 team lead us through a beautiful Mass to celebration the resurrection of Jesus.

Come and Play Thankyou

On Saturday March 23 we opened our school to the wider community for our Come and Play Day. It was wonderful to meet prospective families, as well as those who have already made an enrolment application to our school, who came along to get a sense of our school community in an informal setting.

Days like there do not ‘just happen’ they take organisation and support. For current families, your presence on the day was appreciated - we cannot be a community without you. Thanks to Maria Apostolou and Jasmine Zawitkowski for their organisation, Andrea Boseley and Helen Venizelou for volunteering their time along with many staff members (and some partners) who assisted on the day.

Summer to Winter Uniform

Week 11, Term 1 & Week 1, Term 2

As per your feedback to our uniform review last year, we are introducing a one week phase-in period to the changeover of uniform that usually occurs at the beginning of Term 2.  In accordance with the weather, students can wear either the summer or the winter uniform in Week 11 (next week) and in Week 1 next term.  Winter uniform must be worn on formal school uniform days from Week 2 Term 2.

Swimming Carnival

Good luck to 15 of our Year 3 – 6 students who have been preparing to attend the SACPSSA Swimming Carnival which will take place tomorrow at the SA Aquatic Centre in Oaklands Park. Thank you to Matthew Baird, who ensures our students have many opportunities to strive for selection and engagement in sporting carnivals.  We know the following swimmers will represent our school well and strive to do their best –

Jada, Mackenzie, Zoe, Sadie, Ethan, Jack, Toby, Grace, Caterina, Ruby, Lotye, Amelie, Lucas, Bailey, Mitchell and Rocco.

Easter

At St Joseph’s School Hindmarsh, we have embraced the spirit of Easter, fostering a community filled with love, compassion, gratitude and kindness. We pray that you had a blessed Easter with your families. As we rejoice in the miracle of Easter, let us remember that Easter continues for 50 glorious days until Pentecost. During this time, we are reminded of the profound significance of Christ’s victory over death and the hope it brings to us all. As we journey through these 50 days of celebration, let us continue to embody the teachings of Christ spreading love everywhere we go and sharing our school’s motto “In All Things Love”. A warm thankyou to Father Santhosh and our Year 1/2 Team for leading us in celebrating our Easter Mass on Tuesday morning. May the blessings of this season be with you and your loved ones.
