A Message from the Principal

Principal’s Message – End of Term 2

As we come to the end of a busy and successful Term 2, I’d like to take a moment to thank all our students and families who have made the necessary adjustments to support our school uniform expectations. It’s been fantastic to see our students proudly displaying our Plattsburg colours of maroon and yellow each day.

This term has been filled with highlights. Our involvement in Starstruck was a massive achievement and such a positive experience for our school community. A sincere thank you to all students and families involved, and a very special thank you to Miss Rebecca for her outstanding coordination of the event. Your efforts and energy made it a memorable success.

The recent Year 5/6 camp at the Great Aussie Bush Camp was another highlight, providing our students with valuable experiences outside the classroom. Thank you to all families for your support in allowing staff to take students away – it was a great opportunity for growth, teamwork, and fun.

Looking ahead, our Spotted wellbeing program will continue into Term 3, and we are excited to keep recognising students who consistently demonstrate our school values. We also have a heap of exciting programs happening next term, including the Brainstorm Wellbeing PerformanceBook WeekEducation Week, and Jump Rope for Heart. Please keep a close eye on the school calendar for all the other events happening throughout the term – there’s lots to look forward to.

Our staff in Years 3–6 will also be undertaking Sounds Write professional learning in Term 3. Further information will be shared closer to the date, as staff will be off class during that week.

We’re excited to share that our Plattsburg Yidaki Group will be continuing in Term 3, running every fortnight on Wednesdays (even weeks) with Uncle Alex.

We look forward to seeing our students continue to engage and learn through this meaningful cultural program.

We have recently farewelled Mr Mudie and welcome back Miss Courtney, who will continue to support and deliver programs at Plattsburg. We are also pleased to welcome Mrs Megan Kunkler to our team, who will be teaching 5/6B as Mr Bryant takes on coordination of our Small Group Tuition program before taking leave in preparation for the arrival of his baby – congratulations to Mr Bryant and his family!

We would like to inform families that our Semester 1 student reports have been published today.

Please take the time to read through your child’s report and celebrate their achievements and progress so far this year. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the report further, please don’t hesitate to contact the school and we can organise a time to meet and chat.Thank you for your continued support.School will resume for students on Tuesday 22nd July, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for a productive and engaging Term 3. Please continue to stay connected through our online platforms – Audiri and Facebook – for important school updates over the break.

Thank you to all families who have communicated and collaborated with our staff this term. I wish you all a safe, happy, and restful holiday, and we look forward to seeing everyone back next term.

Regards,

Dave HopsonRelieving Principal

Plattsburg Public Annual Junk Sculpture Competition

It is that time of year again - time to collect all your recyclable goods and turn them into a sculpture. The theme of this year’s Book Week is Book an Adventure, so we are asking for students to create a sculpture of something related to a journey (real or imagined). Students are encouraged to collect and reuse household items such as boxes, tins, plastic bottles and egg cartons etc.

Your sculpture needs to be completed and brought to school on Friday 1st of August (Term 3 Week 2). Sculptures are to be taken directly to the school library between 8:30am - 8:50am on this day. Please note sculptures will not be accepted before this date. Please do not place your child's name on the sculpture to ensure objective judging.

Prizes:

There will be a prize for the best infant (Years K-2) and primary (Years 3-6) sculptures. Winners will be announced during Education/Book Week celebrations the following week (Term 3 Week 3).

Great Aussie Bush Camp

A huge thank you to our Year 5 and 6 students for their outstanding behaviour, positive attitude, and fantastic teamwork over the two days at Great Aussie Bush Camp — we're so glad you all had such a great time! This memorable experience wouldn't have been possible without the incredible staff who attended and supported every step of the way — thank you all for making it happen.

Thank you!
