Term 2 Week 8: 12th June - 16th June 2023

Principal's Blog

Welcome to Week 8 Term 2

As we near the end of Term 2 we certainly are not slowing up! This Thursday 15th June we will be holding our K-6 Athletics Carnival. All students 3-6 will be involved for the full day with our K-2 coming out for a shortened Carnival. Weather looks good at this stage, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed. Next week Wednesday 21st we will be running our school NAIDOC Day event. Ms Johns has worked hard to plan a very engaging day for our students.

Semester 1 Student Reports

Class teachers are currently busy completing our student Semester 1 reports. I am again impressed by the level of achievement and effort across the school. We understand that some of our students need additional support to complete class work but most of our students are working hard towards their learning goals.

Class of the Week

4C

The students in 4C have been working hard this term in all areas. We’ve been enjoying trying to convince others in our persuasive writing, and we’ve participated in some fun, hand-on maths activities.

A few of our other favourite activities this term are in the photos below.

We all loved improving our gymnastics skills and the mini tramp was a hit! We celebrated our mothers and special women in our lives by creating little pipe cleaner flowers as presents for Mother’s Day.

Art is always a favourite in 4C and we have been learning about the elements of art. We created beautiful watercolour shape artworks which look lovely hanging up in the classroom.

Multicultural Public Speaking

On Monday 5th June 2023, Nahla.D from Stage 3, represented our school in the Multicultural Public Speaking Competition, at Valentine PS.

Congratulations Nahla on your initiative and commitment!

Grow Your Mind

Another important Grow Your Mind concept to look after our mental health is Shark vs. Dolphin thoughts

We are faced with many situations each day and it is vital we use our

OWL and ELEPHANT to help us make wise decisions.

For example, you make a mistake on your work.

A shark thought is a harmful thought about yourself. You can challenge this thinking with dolphin thoughts. These are an optimistic way of thinking.

“Everyone makes mistakes, we learn from our mistakes”

“I have the confidence to try again”

“I can ask someone for help”

If you have a Shark thought how will you turn it into a Dolphin thought?
