September 2025, Term 3 Week 8

A Message from the Principal

It has been a wonderful and busy week at Plattsburg! Our students continue to be involved in exciting programs that build creativity, confidence, and connection. Below are some of the highlights from around our school.

🎤 Plattsy’s Got Talent

This week we proudly ran Plattsy’s Got Talent, giving our students the opportunity to showcase their unique gifts in the Creative Arts. We saw a range of performances—from singing and dancing, to instrumental pieces and original creations. It was inspiring to see so many students step up with confidence and enthusiasm. Events like this remind us of the diverse talents within our school and the importance of celebrating every child’s strengths.

📚 Spelling Bee Success

Our Spelling Bee has been another highlight of the week, with students excelling in their literacy skills. The determination, focus, and pride shown by all participants was outstanding. The Spelling Bee is not just about words—it encourages resilience, practice, and the courage to perform under pressure. We are so proud of our students who took part and represented their classes so well.

🍳 Stage 3 Cooking Program

Mrs Bull continues to lead our Stage 3 Cooking Program, and the feedback from students has been overwhelmingly positive. The program is giving our students practical skills in cooking, teamwork, and organisation. Beyond the kitchen, it is also about building confidence, responsibility, and a love for trying new things. Thank you to Mrs Bull for her dedication and to our Stage 3 students for embracing the program with such enthusiasm.

♟️ Chess Clinic Coming Soon

We are excited to announce that a Chess Clinic is being planned for our school team. Chess is a fantastic way to build critical thinking, patience, and problem-solving skills, and we are looking forward to providing this new opportunity for our students. More details will be shared soon.

🎨 Drawing Competition Reminder

A reminder that our Drawing Competition will close next Friday, 19th September. We have already received many wonderful entries and it is fantastic to see the creativity of our students shining through. If you haven’t submitted an entry yet, there is still time to get involved. Thank you to all students who have already participated—you have helped make this competition a great success.

❤️ Jump Rope for Heart

Our Jump Rope for Heart program continues to be a fun and engaging way for students to stay active while also raising awareness about heart health. Students are showing great energy and commitment as they skip their way through this program. It is wonderful to see fitness, teamwork, and a sense of achievement come together in such a positive way.

🏴‍☠️ Pirate Day Next Friday

Next Friday we will be celebrating Pirate Day at Plattsy! This will be a fun-filled day for students, and we encourage everyone to get involved and dress up in the spirit of the day. More information will be sent home next week with details about how students and families can participate. We are looking forward to plenty of laughter and creativity as our playground fills with pirates!

Arriving to Class On Time

A reminder that our Breakfast Club is open every morning from 8:30–8:55am. This is a great opportunity for students to start the day with a healthy meal and connect with friends before school begins.

We encourage all students to make use of this wonderful facility—just remember to be finished and ready to head straight into class for a 9:00am start. It's important that no learning time is lost, and we want all our students to make the most of every moment in the classroom.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our students be ready for a successful day of learning.

In The Classroom

KB Sounds Write Superstars!

In KB, we’ve been working hard on our Sounds Write skills. We have been learning how to break words apart into their sounds (segmenting) and then put the sounds back together to make words (blending). Our focus this week has been on tricky CCVCC words, like stamp and crisp. Each day we also practise writing a sentence that Miss Bailey reads aloud, using our listening and spelling skills. Students also have the opportunity to be the ‘teacher’ by getting up to help the class segment and blend words, which they love! KB have been responding so well to Sounds Write and are really enjoying our daily routines.

Clothing Pool Donations

If your child had a growth spurt and no longer fit into some of their uniforms, you can donate them back to the Clothing Pool. If the uniforms are still in good condition, please drop them into the office anytime.
