Letter from the Principal, Kelli Johnston

Dear Families

As we approach the end of the first semester we look forward to sharing and celebrating the growth and progress of all students.  We are enormously proud of all the work and efforts of our students throughout the semester.  Our students have thoroughly enjoyed engaging in all aspects of their learning.  It is wonderful to see their faces light up when sharing their learning and successes. Congratulations to all students on their outstanding efforts throughout the semester.

We thank the wonderful staff of St John the Baptist for their passion, dedication, teamwork and commitment to planning high quality learning and teaching with our students at the forefront.  We are most fortunate to have such a hardworking team of educators.  The staff have dedicated many hours and a great deal of work writing reports throughout the term. We hope that our families look forward to reading and celebrating their child/ren’s achievements in their Semester One reports.

St Joseph's Lighthouse Program

Throughout Terms 1 and 2 our Year 6 boys have been most fortunate to work with two Year 10 students from St Joseph’s College through the Lighthouse Program.  Every Thursday afternoon the boys worked together to create a project that was educational and relevant to today’s society. On Thursday the boys, their families and teachers attended an evening at St Joseph’s where they were presented with certificates of recognition for their work, as well as showcasing their work.

We were exceptionally proud of the manner in which the boys presented themselves and of the work they presented. .

Congratulations boys you were simply outstanding.

We thank St Joseph’s College for their ongoing partnership with SJB and support of our boys as they prepare for secondary school.

St John Ambulance Year 3-6 First Aid

Last Friday our Year 3-6 students participated in First Aid sessions with St John’s Ambulance.  The students were thoroughly engaged in the sessions and enjoyed learning the potentially life saving skills. Some of the skills included placing a person in the recovery position, CPR and how to bandage an injury.

We congratulate all students on the manner in which they engaged in the learning experience. Furthermore, we congratulate Bella E in Year 4 for taking the initiative to write to our leadership asking for students to undertake First Aid.  Bella’s initiative has provided all students to develop First Aid skills.

Well done Bella!!

First Eucharist Reflection Day

Yesterday our Year 4 students participated in their First Eucharist Reflection Day. The students were immersed in prayer, bread making, rehearsal for the Sacrament of First Eucharist, art and more. The students thoroughly enjoyed their reflection day.

We look forward to celebrating the Sacrament of First Eucharist this coming Sunday 22nd June at 11:00am.
