ZIG ZAG Public School

Term 1 Week 2

Principal Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been wonderful to see our school so settled into a new year of learning.

  • Classrooms are calm and happy
  • Students are engaged in their work
  • Teachers are excited to be implementing the new syllabi in Creative Arts, PDHPE and English and Mathematics syllabus units.
There is a real sense of purpose and enthusiasm across the school.

Our playground has also been a joy to be in, filled with happy, smiling faces as students reconnect, enjoy each other’s company and settle back into school routines.

It is clear that everyone is pleased to be back and ready for a positive year ahead.

I have also had the pleasure of presenting our first “Go for Gold” award for the year — a fantastic achievement for our students.

  •  Every child will be receiving their Term 1 Coal Award, recognising their strong start and commitment to learning.
What a wonderful beginning to the school term.Well done to all of our students and staff for making it such a positive and successful start to the year.

School Attendance Alert

📢 School Attendance Alert

Did You Know?

Partial attendance at school – such as late arrivals or early departures – is recorded and contributes to your child’s overall attendance record.

While these may seem like small amounts of time, they can quickly add up and impact your child’s learning and continuity in the classroom.

We encourage all families to support full-day attendance wherever possible, ensuring students arrive on time and stay for the entire school day.

Every minute of learning counts! 📚✨

Bus Travel Reminder

🚌 Bus Travel Reminder

Start of the School Year - As we begin a new school year, it is a timely reminder for all students who travel to and from school by bus that appropriate behaviour is expected at all times.

Families are reminded that inappropriate behaviour on the bus has consequences. Serious or repeated breaches of expected behaviour can result in disciplinary action, including the possible withdrawal of a student’s bus pass.

We appreciate your support in discussing these expectations with your child to ensure safe and respectful travel for everyone. 🚌

Change of Signage

There is now new parking signage out the front of the school.

There is strictly NO PARKING outside the school between 8.30am and 9.30am and 2.30pm - 3.30pm.

NO PARKING means:

"No Parking" sign prohibits leaving a vehicle unattended, but typically allows stopping for a very short duration—usually under 2 minutes—to immediately drop off/pick up passengers or goods. The driver must remain within 3 meters of the vehicle".

The fines for disregarding these signs are substantial.

It is also "NO STOPPING" on the grass area to the right of the School Gates. This is a private driveway and is  signed 'NO STOPPING'

NO STOPPING' means:

' you must not stop at any point on the road or kerb in the direction of the arrow'

Please park in Mill Street and walk up to collect your child/children or alternatively the children can walk to Mill Street in the walkers line with the teachers.

The council has changed this signage for the safety of students, parents and staff at the school and to stop the conjestion out the front of the school.

Thank you for your co-operation.

School Activities

Kindergarten 2026

FIRST DAY of BIG SCHOOL.

A big welcome to our new Kindergarten students.

It is wonderful to see the Kindies big smiles and confidence in the school environment.

This is thanks to our Puffing Billies- (transition to school program) and the support and kindness of our Year 6 Big Buddies.

Well done everyone!

Our 2026 Leadership Team

Our 2026 Student Leadership Team proudly made their pledge today, committing to lead our school community with kindness, responsibility and heart.

Parents proudly pinned on their children’s badges — a special moment celebrating support, connection and shared pride.

So special to see our young leaders step forward at Zig Zag Public School. We can’t wait to see the positive impact they’ll make

Swimming Carnival

ZZPS Swimming Carnival 2026

Our Whole School carnivals are always a great day for EVERYONE.

The day starts with 50 metre races, with competitors being cheered on by the rest of the school.

Then everyone gets a chance to get in the water for novelty races and water play.

Not to mention our Kindergarten students enjoyed their first excursion at Big School!
