From the Principal

Hi all,

As you will be aware, the school is closed tomorrow as the Australian Education Union (AEU) and Government continue to work towards an Enterprise Bargaining solution.

Following this there is a school closure on Monday and a Student Free Day on Tuesday, where staff will be undertaking some professional learning in the areas of Maths and the Berry Street Educational Model.

Students are expected back at school on Wednesday, 6 September.

We hope you are able to enjoy some quality time with your child(ren), and they will come back refreshed and ready for some great learning on Wednesday!

Best,

Vicky

Principal's Gold Book Awards

Congratulations to the following students who have a received a Principal's Gold Book Award.

Axel Steinert    Rubi McDonnell    Imogen Miles    Ezra Fitzpatrick

Evelyn Haynes     Lukas Buerskens    Indi McDonnell

From the Deputy Principal

We had an amazing Bookweek with lots of exciting events.

On Friday the winners for Guess the Reader were announced at a short assembly. It was tricky working out who the students were, however, through using the characteristics of hair and clothing most readers were identified. It was wonderful seeing how students were persistent over the week trying to identify the readers. Some students teamed together to use their knowledge of students for the answers, older students helped younger students with guesses and writing of names. It was a lot of fun!

Four children were able to identify 16 of the 17 readers.

Congratulations to: Abbie P, James B, Jordan T and Lexie S.

They won a storybook, courtesy of Ms Wild and a voucher for a zooper dooper from the canteen.

Wellbeing at NPS

Dear parents,

I will be away from week 5 to week 9 as I will be acting Deputy at Angaston Primary School. Mr Rostig will be filling in for me.

See you all week 10.

Claire Morichaud-Shields

Hello parents and members of the school community,

Most of you would know me but I thought this would be a good opportunity to re-introduce myself to you all and tell you about my role for the next five weeks.

I’ve been a teacher at Nuriootpa Primary School in various capacities since 2016. As the acting Wellbeing Coordinator while Claire is away, I look forward to working with any students or families who need assistance in this period. I hope that I can continue the great work that Claire has been doing in her absence.

Please see below about a parent forum for SIES, this is a very important organisation that provide assistive technologies and materials to students with additional needs. It would be a great opportunity for parents to provide feedback and/or get advice about what additional help they can receive for their child’s learning.

Thank you,

Michael Rostig

Fundraising at NPS

We are running a Pictureproducts melamine place activity and we’d love you to join in.  Your child’s unique artwork is transformed into durable, high-quality melamine Pictureplates that will last a lifetime.

Both decorative and useful, Pictureplates are simply beautiful.  Children love eating off their very own Pictureplates, and as the years go by they grow up and have their own families, their Pictureplates will bring back memories of those happy childhood years.

Your child can use photos, makers, paints and handprints to create their artworks, and you can have as many copies made as you’d like so it’s a fantastic gift idea for grandparents and other family members.  What will you child draw?

We are also offering a range of other products decorated with your child’s artwork, such as the functional and beautiful Pictureclocks, plastic or ceramic mugs, water bottles and calendars.

How to get involved

1.       Look at the attached leaflet and choose which products, and how many of each, you would like to order.  Fill out the order form at the end of this letter and return it to the office.

Pay your order online at https://pay.pictureproducts.com/NURCSA/91836/. Please note a $1 payment processing surcharge will be applied.

Orders and payments are due in by 25th August 2023 (end of week 5)

2.       Collect the drawing paper from the front office and create your artworks at home with pens, paint, stickers, fingers, feet and photos – the brighter the better!

Return your drawings to the front office when complete.

Drawings are due in by the 8th September 2023 (end of week 7).
