School Leaders Update
It was terrific to see our Year 5 nominees for 2024 School Captain stand up and deliver excellent speeches last Tuesday prior to voting. The teachers and I were so struck with how far many of these students have come from their early days of primary school. They are showing signs of such maturity and growth and their families have much to be proud of. The nominees and their families were notified of the outcome on Friday, however they will be introduced to the school community at tomorrow morning’s 8:55am assembly.
Any parents or carers that would like to join our assembly to hear this announcement are most welcome to join us. It will also be published in next weekend’s newsletter. Congratulations to the 10 students nominated – we are so proud of each of you.
2024 P&C Executive Team
Following the P&C Annual General meeting last Tuesday night, it is my pleasure to share with you those parents that will be filling executive positions in 2024:
President – Sarah Dennis
Vice President Events – Louise Ford
Vice President Promotions & Social Media – Tash Rudge
Secretary – Rebecca Phillips
Treasurer/Bookkeeper – Jess Rollings
Auditor – Matthew Dickinson
Canteen Coordinators – Lauren Kolstad/Lauren Marks
In announcing these new executive positions, I would also like to acknowledge the outgoing P&C executive who have worked tirelessly for our school community again in 2023.
Special thanks to our outgoing President Jaime Bartlett who has managed somehow to prioritise the work of the P&C around her many family and work commitments. She has led the P&C very well, setting a high standard and bringing positive change to the P&C processes and practices. She has been a delight to work alongside and her communication with myself and the school has been outstanding. We wish her all the best for 2024 and thank her for her service. Likewise to Kirra Hitchcock, our outgoing Secretary. Kirra has led the great work in delivering fantastic mothers and father’s day stalls and was heavily involved with the recent trivia night.
Uniform changeover
As announced last week, some of the items in the new school uniform will start to be delivered over the next few weeks. At the P&C AGM last Tuesday night, I was asked if I would consider allowing students to wear new garments this year (for example black shorts or skorts) to help alleviate the pressure of keeping students in older, worn existing uniform garments. The simple answer to this is yes, of course. This may mean that students are wearing the new black shorts or skorts with the current red polo shirt. Ideally, we would start wearing the new uniform at the beginning of 2024. However, if you have been sewing up, repairing or trying to stretch out your child’s current uniform – it makes sense to me to switch over as soon as you have new garments.
The changeover process will initially be a little messy therefore. Students will always be required to be in uniform. Ideally, each child would wear all new uniform garments, OR all existing uniform garments (until they can make the switch). A mix of both would only be a short-term measure to assist families desperate for new garments but not able to make the whole switch immediately.
We have now received a sample of each new uniform item. These are on display in the school office for parents and students to view. If you are visiting school this week, please feel free to pop in and take a look.
Finally, there will be a letter coming home with the oldest sibling tomorrow from me which contains important information about some changing circumstances for 2024, please keep an eye out for it.
Have a great week!
