Plattsburg Public School Newsletter

May 2026, Term 2 Week 4

A Message from the Principal

Thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to participate in our school communication survey. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will help us continue to streamline the way we share information and connect with our school community.

Families also have another important opportunity to have their say through the NSW Public Schools Survey. This survey is completely anonymous and gives parents and carers the chance to provide feedback about what we are doing well and where we can continue to grow. Your voice matters, and your input helps us make Plattsburg Public School the best it can be.

You can access the survey here:https://surveyme.education.nsw.gov.au/sc/RpxA38SA3zDRgHjM9dV09w2

This term, our teaching and learning focus continues to be on strengthening mathematics lessons across the school. Staff are working together to ensure lessons are explicit, engaging and targeted to student needs. We are focused on building students’ confidence, problem-solving skills and mathematical understanding through clear instruction and meaningful learning activities.

We are also excited to see students enjoying our new active playground initiative. At recess and lunch, students now have access to optional a staff-run activities that provide alternatives to traditional playground play. These activities are helping students stay active, build positive friendships, try new things and enjoy structured opportunities across the school.

Warm regards

Shahn Radcliffe

What Is Coming Up

Walk Safely To School Day

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please join us on Friday 22nd May, 8:30 a.m. to Walk Safely to School. We will meet at the Rotunda, Corner of Nelson, Tyrell and Harris Streets.

Parents and or carers must be in attendance to walk with their children and PPS staff.

Walk Safely to School is an opportunity for staff, parents and carers of Primary School aged children to promote safe pedestrian behaviour, and to promote the health benefits of walking and help create regular walking habits at an early age.

We look forward to a large number of parents and carers walking to Plattsburg Public School with staff and students on Friday 22nd May.

Any questions or concerns please contact the school and ask for Mr Hopson.

Volunteers Needed – School Canteen & Breakfast Club

With the colder weather approaching, our Breakfast Club is getting busier each morning and we would love some extra helping hands to support our students.

Our school canteen would also love to welcome some new faces to help out. Whether you can volunteer regularly or just lend a hand from time to time, any support is greatly appreciated and makes a big difference to our school community.

No experience is necessary — just a friendly attitude and willingness to help.

We have attached a volunteer form for anyone interested. Alternatively, please contact the school office if this is something you may be able to help with.

Thank you for supporting our students and school community!

In The Classroom

KC and K/1H

KC and K/1H have been busy exploring the fascinating Corroboree Frog through creative learning experiences this term. KC have been learning a special dance inspired by the movements of the Corroboree Frog, while K/1H have enjoyed reading and discussing a class book all about this unique Australian animal. To celebrate their learning, both classes created some amazing Corroboree Frog craft artworks, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm.

Library Lunchtime Fun! 📚🎲🎨

Our students have been making the most of their lunchtime in the library, enjoying a range of fun and relaxing activities. From exciting board games with friends to creative colouring sessions and quiet reading time, the library has become a welcoming space for everyone to connect, unwind, and explore their interests.

It has been wonderful to see so many students engaging with each other, showing teamwork, creativity, and a love of reading. The positive atmosphere in the library each lunchtime highlights how important these shared activities are for building friendships and encouraging students to enjoy learning in different ways.

We look forward to continuing these enjoyable lunchtime opportunities throughout the term!
