From the Principal

Student Success:

Congratulations to our support unit team who competed at the recent Boccia competition. The team won the day and will now compete at the state championships next term! Congratulations to Declan, Amanda, Olivia, Sebastian, Braxton and Ashah. Well done to the boys’ league team who competed last week. They had an awesome day, winning round one and unfortunately losing round two at golden point. They were fantastic representatives of our school. Well done to our band students who attended Bandlink last week. The students had a great day improving their musical skills. Gill was asked to performed a solo in the performance piece on the second day of the event. Well done Gill! Congratulations to Isabella who has been selected as part of the Hunter Girls Soccer team recently! Isabella will compete at the State Championships later this year.

Mini Fete:

Congratulations to the Year 6 students and teachers for the organisation of this year’s mini fete! The day was a wonderful day, raising $3,638.30. A fantastic effort. Thank you everyone for your support of the day.

Reconciliation Assembly:

Today we held our Reconciliation Assembly for all students. Well done to the Wonai team for their work coordinating such an important event.

Soccer:

Good luck to our girls’ and boys’ soccer teams who will be competing in the PSSA knockout competitions over the next two weeks.

Athletics Carnival:

Library News

Book Club Issue 4 will close on Wednesday, 14th June. The new issue was sent home with students last week with replacement copies available from the library should any have been lost in transit. All orders are processed after the closing date and are sent home with students as soon as they arrive at school, normally late the following week. Scholastic encourages parents/carers to place orders via their Loop Ordering System (Loop) but payments can also be made through the school’s office.

Save The Date – Grandparents Day/Book Parade/Education Week

Our annual event will be held on Friday 18th August (Term 3 Week 5). Loved ones will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch with their children followed by the Book Parade from approximately 12.15pm. This year’s Book Week Theme is Read, Grow, Inspire but, as always here at WBPS, the aim of our Book Parade is for everyone to join in and have fun. It is not a competition, just an opportunity to dress as a character from a book and enjoy the event.  Additional information will be sent to families as this date approaches.

Author Visit – Martin Ed Chatterton

On Wednesday 26th July (Term 3 Week 2), WBPS will host award winning author and illustrator, Martin Ed Chatterton. Amongst his large portfolio of books, Martin has co-authored some of the Middle School series with James Patterson as well as picture books and screenplays. Permission and payment information will be sent home to families over the coming weeks so please keep an eye open as author visits are an amazing opportunity for students across all years, to learn and be inspired.
