From the Acting Principal

Thank you Mrs Jones

It has been a very busy half of Term 4, and I would like to thank Mrs Emma Jones for being Acting Principal for my Long Service Leave this term. I was able to travel with my family to beautiful Fiji. Thank you Emma for your leadership, and for supporting our school community during this time.

150th Celebrations

In Week 1 of this term we celebrated Wasleys Primary School's 150th with an Olden Day Sports Day, Butterfly Garden Opening and a Old School Building Tour with High Tea. All of these events feature as part of this newsletter edition. Thank you to the families who attended our school based activities on this day.

We welcomed the Hon Tony Piccolo, Penny Pratt MP and Mayor Bill O'Brien. Special Guest speakers included past students Betty Rundle, Graham Hillman and Richard Holt, as well as our Vice Chair Person of Governing Council Mel Bywater. Lynette Marker and Gemma Holmes from the Light Regional Council unveiled a plaque as part of the 'Wasleys Walk' and the app 'Discover the Light' to commemorate the special milestone of the school. I know the whole Wasleys School community will join me in thanking our special guests and speakers for their attendance.

I would also like to sincerely thank those who were part of the Organising Committee: Lynette Marker, Jenny Polley, Gail Angwin, Allison Landherr and Kelly Richards. Thank you also to Doug Glamann and staff for set up on the day.

The celebration was a huge success thanks to organisation, time and teamwork involved. The afternoon was the perfect way to celebrate the very special milestone for our school.

World Teachers Day

Friday October 25th was World Teachers Day! A day to show our appreciation for the impact teachers have to educate, inspire and empower learners everyday. Our teachers, Carol Martin, Emma Jones and Cheryl Burr celebrated with a morning tea organised by our SSO staff. Thank you to our amazing Wasleys teachers!

End of Year Concert

Our end of year concert is fast approaching on Wednesday 11th December. The end of year concert will be at the Wasleys Institute. Classes have been busy preparing items for the end of year event. We will also graduate two of our Year 6 students who are going to High School. We welcome all families to attend from 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start.

Reports

The end of Term 4 is a very busy time in schools. Staff are also writing reports which will be distributed on Wednesday of Week 9. This semester report will also include a slip for further follow up and receival of the report to be returned to school.

Remembrance Day

On Monday the 11th of November, Wasleys Primary School attended the Wasleys Remembrance Day Service. We reflected on those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation. In classes, students read picture books and learnt more about the significance of Remembrance Day.

Thank you Mrs B
