Principal's Message

We saw a large group of Environmental Officers attend the annual Quairading Camp last weekend.  The students, volunteer parents, and staff support the farmers to reduce erosion and soil salinity by planting trees on properties. Rotary Subiaco have been wonderful supporters of this project and provided the bus. Huge thank you to Mrs Samsa for organising this, Mrs Osterberg and Ms Greying for offering their time to attend and all the amazing parents who volunteered. It was such a great experience for the students in supporting this vitally important project.

We have had several new families join CPS the last few terms. Thank you for your extremely kind and generous words about the warmth of the school community who have made you feel so welcome to CPS. How great is it to be part of such a wonderful environment!

Wednesday night, I was privileged to watch two of our amazing year 6 students participate in the Cambridge Rotary Four Way Speech Test Competition. Stella Ariyaratnam and Xavier Lai presented their speeches to six district public schools, which included students, principals, teachers, and families, as well as members of the Cambridge Rotary Club. 12 students from the six schools participated on the night. The student’s topic for their speech needed to cover four questions:

1. Is it the TRUTH?

2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

4. Will it be BENEFICAL to all concerned?

Stella and Xavier were exceptional, with Xavier coming runner-up and Stella equal 4th. It is such a great opportunity in gaining valuable experience in public speaking for the students. Very big thank you to Mr O’Mara for assisting and coaching Stella and Xavier with their speeches and the process of public speaking.

We are in the process of developing our planning for 2024. It would be greatly appreciated if you could please let us know in writing if your child will be leaving CPS at the end of this year. Please email the Principal on Kim.Fraser@educaiton.wa.edu.au
