Monday 17th February 2025 Term 1 Week 4

From the Principal

Welcome Back:

Welcome back to Warners Bay Public for 2025! We are looking forward to a wonderful year! I would like to welcome all new and returning families to our school for 2025. A particular welcome to our new Kinder families and those who have joined our school for the first time. We are looking forward to having a fantastic year, sharing the learning journey with you and your child. The year has started very smoothly with students and teachers settling into classes with ease and hit the ground running with learning.

Term 1:

This term we have a lot of exciting events starting with the visit from the Life Ed van last week and this week. This is a valuable program teaching students healthy habits. Later in the term we have school photos, our Easter hat parade, cross country, NAPLAN, mini-fete and points swimming carnival. This carnival is for all Year 3 – 6 students. A busy, but fun-filled term!

Staff for 2025:

Our teachers spend a great deal of time to get the mix of personalities right for a class group and I thank them for their time and effort in designing the best classes possible. Parent Communication:

Communication is very important to our school. If you need help with something or have a question, there are several ways you can contact us.

For general enquiries: Call the school office on 49488129, visit the office during school hours or email warnersbay-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au

To speak with your child’s teacher: Email them at warnersbay-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or call the school office and leave a message for them to contact you.

Please note, teachers are in class all day and on duty at recess and lunch times. While they will be prompt in replying to you, please understand that they may not be able to contact you back immediately. Teachers will also send emails to parents through our new School Bytes system.

You have a concern about your child: In the first instance, contact your child’s teacher. If you have further concerns, please contact the Stage Assistant Principal as listed below.

Kinder and Stage 1 – Mrs Milgate

Stage 2 – Mrs Burr

Stage 3 – Miss Patrick

SHINE – Mrs Ward

If you have significant concerns, please contact the school office to speak with me.

Attendance:

Working together for students attendance and to maximise learning, we want to do all we can to be sure your child achieves their potential and enjoys being in school.

We know that school is the best place to learn. By attending school every day your child will get the most out of their learning and improve their career and life options.

When your child is absent it is important you let the school know, including the reason why, on the day or the day before. This helps make sure we know where our students are and offer support for you and your family if needed.

If you are having trouble getting your child to school every day or on time, please talk to our school staff so we can work together, because every day counts.

Missing a day here or there may not seem like much, but absences add up and can negatively impact your child’s learning and wellbeing. When your child misses one day a week that’s 40 days of school and 8 weeks of learning in one year. Over an entire school journey this adds up to 2.5 years of lost learning.

WBPS Student Representative Council 2025

The Warners Bay Public School Student Representative Council (SRC) aims to have an active student voice, where students can learn about being informed citizens and expand their leadership opportunities throughout their time at WBPS.

The SRC consists of students across K-5. There are 2 representatives from each class who will attend a weekly meeting during the first half of lunch on a Tuesday and participate in decision making, completing an exciting initiative each term. New leaders are voted in each term.

This year, one student leader from K-5 will be recognised at our Presentation Day Assembly for their outstanding contribution during their term as SRC Leader. Criteria for this includes excellence in leadership skills, communication, initiative and problem solving, commitment to school values and collaboration.

Student badges for elected leaders will be handed out this week by class teachers. We look forward to holding our first meeting for the Term 1 leaders this week.
