Kaya, Parents & Community Members,

Welcome to our Term 3 – especially our new or returning families - surely the weather will warm up soon!

As you will note form the attached term planner, this term is quite hectic but includes some exciting events.  Please make note.

You may have heard or seen the announcement by the Minister for Education this week in relation to violence in schools.  We are extremely privileged to live in a community where this is not a significant issue, although unfortunately, from time to time some people need to be reminded of appropriate codes of conduct.  I invite you to view the “Standing together against violence” resources provided by the Department that are designed to support our school and our community; Say no to Violence.

Principal

The Lightning Carnival in Week 10 Term 2 was a fabulous day! All Glengarry Participants tried their best and showed good sportsmanship. Overall, across the Home and Away season we had some success with Glengarry Soccer and Volleyball wining the majority of their games.  As well as this at the lightning carnival our Volleyball A team and the Football team won their respective divisions.

The students looked amazing in their new uniforms. Thanks to the P and C for funding them and thankyou also to those staff and parents who assisted throughout the term with coaching roles.

Alex's Haircut

Alex had been growing his hair for a long time and has had it cut in order to  donate to Wigs for Kids and has fund raised money for Alzheimer’s WA. He misses his locks but he’s proud that he’s donating hair for kids that can’t grow their hair and he hopes it inspires others to donate and do the same.

Well done Alex!

Health and Hygiene

Is your child feeling unwell?

If your child is unwell with cold and flu symptoms, please keep them at home and consider checking in with your GP if symptoms don't resolve

Healthy WA also recommends seeking a COVID test for cold and flu symptoms.  See links below for more info.

Department of Health LINK

DoE LINK

As directed by our guidelines, we will ask for your child to be collected if they are displaying cold symptoms such as a cough, runny nose, fever etc.

We have a student at school who is immunocompromised.  This means they can potentially become gravely ill even when contracting a common cold/virus.  Please be mindful of sending students to school when they are unwell, as they may spread their infection.  Please speak with your GP/health professional and see the information in the links above re: advice about keeping your child at home when unwell.
