This morning we gathered to celebrate Grandparent's Day at Plattsburg Public School. It was great to see so many grandparents, families, and community members join us to recognise the important role grandparents play in the lives of our students.
Our assembly was led by our school leaders, who did an excellent job guiding us through the morning’s proceedings. The assembly began with an Acknowledgement of Country, followed by a thank you to our grandparents for their ongoing support and care. Students were reminded to take the time to spoil their grandparents and show appreciation for all they do.
I was then invited to address the assembly and speak about the strength of connection and community that defines our school.
Looking ahead, our student leaders shared some upcoming events:
- Day for Daniel – Friday, 31st October: A day to remember Daniel Morcombe and reflect on the importance of personal safety and awareness. More information will be shared next week.
- Year 6 Fundraiser – Guess the Lolly Competition: Commencing Monday, 3rd November (Week 4) and running all week. Get your guesses ready and support our Year 6 students.
- Handball Competition: Also beginning on Monday, 3rd November – a fun and active way for students to get involved during breaks.
- Stage 2 Science Experiment Day: Happening on Monday next week – an opportunity for students to explore, question, and learn through hands-on activities.
- Splash and Dash & Values Gala Day: Coming soon, featuring our Plattsburg Park Walk on Friday, 7th November. It will be a day of participation, teamwork, and celebrating our school values.
I would also like to welcome Mr G and Miss Rahaf to the Plattsburg community. They are both working to support our students across classrooms and in the playground. We warmly welcome them to our school and look forward to the positive contribution they will make.
Thank you to all families and grandparents who attended and to our dedicated staff and students for making the morning meaningful and engaging. Events like these remind us of the strong community connections that make Plattsburg such a supportive and inclusive school.
At the close of the assembly, families were invited to leave first while students remained with their teachers to ensure a safe and organised conclusion to the event.
Thank you again to our community for your ongoing support. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events as we continue to celebrate learning, connection, and wellbeing at Plattsburg.
Regards,
Dave Hopson
