Reynella Primary School Grapevine

Term 2, Week 10 | 2024

From the Leadership Team

As we wrap up an exciting and productive Term 2, I want to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful experiences and express my gratitude for your support. It has been a pleasure being a part of the Reynella Primary School community as Acting Principal.

Despite our large size, the sense of community is ever-present and I am truly impressed by the warmth and togetherness that define the school. Getting to know the students and witnessing the dynamic learning environment in action has been a highlight for me. The energy and enthusiasm in our classrooms are evident every day and it's clear that every single student and staff member plays a significant role in this.

I would like to extend my thanks to our incredibly talented, cohesive, and committed staff. Their passion for teaching and nurturing our students is evident in the progress and joy we see in our children each day. As we head into the well-deserved holiday break, I wish you all the very best.

Enjoy this time with your families and recharge for the exciting term ahead. I am particularly looking forward to visiting during Term 3 to say hello and witness the creativity and innovation on display at the Seussian Spectacular and the STEM showcase. These events promise to be fantastic celebrations of our students' talents and hard work.Next term brings some exciting changes to our staff team.

We are thrilled to welcome Ben Warne, who will be joining us as the full-time teacher in B6. Additionally, Susan Dunning will be teaching four days per week in A1 while Annie enjoys her long-service leave. We are confident that both Ben and Susan will bring fresh perspectives and enthusiasm to their classrooms.Last but certainly not least, we are delighted to welcome Michele Russell back after her whirlwind adventures across the globe.

Michele has been greatly missed and we know everyone is eager to hear her captivating tales from her travels.

Thank you once again for your continued support and dedication to our school community.

I look forward to the many exciting experiences and achievements that Term 3 will bring.

Warm regards,

Chris Tippett

Acting Principal

State Championships Cross Country On Thursday, June 6th, eight Reynella students braved the cold to compete in the State Championships Cross Country races. Mikaela, Chase, Oscar, Harper, Keeva, Bianca, Claira, and Tate gave their best efforts in their age group events, competing against runners from all over the state. With approximately 200 participants in each race, all Reynella students made their school proud. They not only competed fiercely but also stayed to cheer each other on.

Representative Sport Oscar had the opportunity to represent Southern Valley at the Football (AFL) SAPSASA carnival in Week 3. He was thrilled to play football for three consecutive days, which is his dream come true. His team was competitive and had a lot of fun. At Reynella, we have a very strong group of netballers. This was evident during the recent trials when seven Year 6 students made the Southern Valley SAPSASA team. Congratulations to Aria, Aaliyah, Peyton, Mikaela, Maya, Isla, and Layla for their selection and participation in the State carnival. Special shout out to our Netball Div 1 representatives Mikaela and Isla who were part of the SAPSASA Champion District winning team.

In other netball news, Jordan and Chase represented Southern Valley in the boys' netball competition. Despite not having extensive experience, they bravely stepped out of their comfort zone and had a great time in a competitive team.

Touch Football News Tate and Layla were strong enough players to be selected for the South Australian state teams in Touch Football. We wish them good luck as they head to Queensland in October!

In addition, there is a Southern Valley District SAPSASA Facebook group if you wish to join.

REPORTiT by Impromation

REPORTiT is our digital platform for school reports. At the end of Term 2, families will be able to access their child’s mid-year report through the Impromation online portal. The website is simple and intuitive and step-by-step instructions will be sent in advance. Thank you for continuing to embrace this digital transition and remember, we are here to help!

MultiLit Programs

At Reynella Primary School, we have a commitment to ensuring that all students excel in their literacy skills. As part of that commitment, we offer the MultiLit Intervention Programs to support children who are struggling in this area.

What is involved in the MultiLit Reading Intervention Program?

Students in the MultiLit Program participate in 4 x 45 minute sessions, working in a small group of up to five children with an SSO (Mrs Desi Gonis and Mrs Louise Quinn) each week. In these sessions, students receive explicit instruction to support their phonological awareness and language development.

We feel very privileged to offer the MultiLit Program at Reynella PS as it is an evidence based program that also increases student confidence with their reading skills. All children who have been offered a spot in the program for term 2 would have received a letter in the past fortnight.

If you would like further information about this program or have any other questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or Anthony Parina.

Steps and Stones Psychology

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to introduce Steps and Stones Psychology, a new business in the Blackwood area offering comprehensive ADHD, psycho-educational, intellectual, and behavioural assessments tailored for children and adolescents (aged 6 - 16 years old).

We understand the challenges families face in accessing timely and affordable assessments. Our services are competitively priced at $1200, significantly lower than many alternatives. As a new business, our waitlist is short, and we offer Saturday appointments, minimising disruption to students’ schooling.

Our assessments provide comprehensive strategies for both the school and home environments. We collaborate closely with parents and teachers to assist in forming tailored intervention plans that address the unique needs of each student. Our goal is to ensure that each child receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could pass this information to any parents who might benefit from these services. I have attached a flyer to this email and am happy to provide any additional information as needed.

For more details, please contact us at 0494 025 200, admin@stepsandstonespsychology.com.au, or visit Steps and Stones Psychology.

Thank you for your time and support.
