Principals Message

After 14 wonderful years at ZZPS, it is time for me to say farewell and thank you.

My farewell on Tuesday was more than I could ever have dreamed. The love and support shown by our staff, students and wider community was truly overwhelming, and I am deeply grateful for the kind words, beautiful gifts and thoughtful gestures. Thank you to everyone who attended, for the delicious food, and for making it such a special day.

It was a truly beautiful ZZ farewell, complete with an echo to the cliffs — a moment I will cherish forever. A song sung by all students always makes me cry but Tuesdays song will stay in my memory  and will always bring a tear to my eye.

As I shared on the day, my only regret is that I didn’t begin my journey at ZZPS even earlier.

At my dinner with staff, I sang my own song that captured exactly how I feel: "I’ve had the time of my life at ZZPS, and I owe it all to you. "

Those words come straight from the heart.

I will miss this beautiful school — our best kept secret — more than I can ever express.

Thank you for the memories, the friendships, and the privilege of leading such an extraordinary school.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Vicki Gillmore xx

Wishing all our families a safe and happy Easter.

Enjoy your time being with loved ones and stay safe and well.

This week, we are saying farewell to someone truly irreplaceable.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Zig Zag Public School community gathered to honour our incredible principal, Mrs Vicki Gillmore, as she steps into a well-earned retirement after 14+ years leading our school — and more than 42 years serving NSW public education.

There were songs, speeches, poetry, tears, laughter, beautiful gifts, afternoon tea and so much love in our playground.

Our student leaders — Penelope, Tallan, Noah and Evie — led the afternoon beautifully. Our young AECG students opened with a powerful Acknowledgement of Country.

Special guest speakers Mrs Hughs our Director of Learning; the Principal of Rylstone Public School Mrs Burcher and Zig Zag Staff shared words that only those who have worked beside Mrs Gillmore could truly know.

Our students performed ‘Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars — because they could always count her.

The SRC presented Mrs Gillmore with a beautiful tree from all the students to go in our playground — a living legacy — so that every child who walks through these gates after today will grow up through the seasons of everything Mrs Gillmore built here.

Our P&C presented Mrs Gillmore with a gift on behalf of all the families who have been part of our school community during her time here.

Mrs Gillmore, you have shaped Zig Zag Public School, its community and so many young lives in ways that will ripple on long after today. We are so grateful. We will miss you deeply. And we wish you every happiness in your next beautiful chapter.
